I've got a single motor TS Jolly to setup. Looking for a good balanced power setup. Thinking a Hydra 240LV (cuz I have it here), Feigao 9xl, 4S 5000 25c's (cuz i got those) and maybe a x642. Other motor I'm considering is the 1515 1Y but that looks to shorten the runtimes to under 4 min. Want to get close to 50mph but a smooth running boat is probably more important to me. How does this sound?

A 540xl is to small for a single setup , try it with a feigao 580L10 and 8s2 lipo ETTI 100amp HV esc or simular esc and start testing with a 45mm prop and go up from there to 50mm. At least this is gonna be my setup in my AS Jolly 110cm.

Not wanting to do an HV setup. Don't have the batts nor an HV ESC. Unless I get some better advice, think I'll start off trying a 580 7L or 6L on 4S and see how that goes. I found FECalc (neat program!) and the 6L on 4S seems to work ok within the parameters I'm stuck with (basically, it has to be a LV setup). Was hoping for some folks with TS Jolly's to chime in.Originally posted by focused View PostA 540xl is to small for a single setup , try it with a feigao 580L10 and 8s2 lipo ETTI 100amp HV esc or simular esc and start testing with a 45mm prop and go up from there to 50mm. As a separate question, how close is FECalc (if applied correctly) to real world?

the 6 or 7 turn will most likely cause more problems. 8L on 4S starting with a 45mm prop would be low 40mph range. You could then prop up to suit. The only other one I know of hitting 50's is a twin or one that ran a kb45 motor. At least on this forum.

Things must be much different in sunny HI. I am not in any way saying this is not true but an 8xl with a 45mm prop on a 29" hull was doing everything to get to 48mph I dont see ANY way a 7XL Feigao 540 would push a 36" cat to over 60mph with a 440 prop. ???Originally posted by Tunda View PostI have mine set up with a 7xl , 200amp himodel spedo on 4s lipo with a x440 prop and speeds are in the 60-62 mph............

I had some heat but i only did 4 straitaway passes just to see what kind of speeds i could get with a cheap china set up this hull is very light and i ran 4s2p with a total of 10,000mah it hops from the start but when it gets to top speed it handles good and the hop goes away. I just wanted to prove that i could hit 60 with this cheap china set up and not to have to spend the money on a hydra 240 a Neu motor with high dollar lipos ask chuck e cheese he saw this boat run........... I been there done that with the High dollar set up before and was'nt impressed so there you go..............Hawaiian Tunda

Akoni the 580L 6 wind will be a great motor for that hull, run times will be a bit short though, a 7 wind with a 447/3 and the CC240 would get you well over 50mph and good run times. 40c cells are OK for 1p but your 25c should be run as 2p to make their live easier. The 580L motors are very good and have a heap of torque. I run a 6L in my DF33 and have used it in a sport 40 hydro and a raptor rigger ( read insane). I love my 6L
