esc opinions

Nope not at all. The esc programed armed and was ready to go. I have another brand new one in the box. I am going to install the cooling next week and set it up. I will let you know if that one is the same. I have had this one for almost 6 months now. It's possible the firm ware was changed. I have a programer so it would be a quick fix if thats the case.

So the default on the controls is for stick radios, or the luck of the draw?? (could be either)

It would seem there is a diffrence between the FM rx's and the spektrum units. Maybe it is due to the fact the dss rx is digital..I am really unsure. I am going to do some research now that my interest is raised.

Tom and Doug, I have a Hextronic 120 and it would not arm on my Hitec until I installed a Pistix. I also have the Hextronic programmer and I can not find a feature for pistol radios. Am I missing something?

I had to switch the motor wires around if memory serves me correctly. That problem rings a bell. It was late Feb, or March when I set mine up for the first time. Did you get the single tone when you powered it up?

I can not remember, but the Pistix solved all problems

If you have a buddy with a sprktrum system have him test it for you. That will really clear things up.

No sir I don't think so.From Andy" Aircraft ESCs want a signal that covers most of the 1-2ms range of pulses, while boat ESCs want a signal that only covers the top half 1.5-2ms." That is why Andy came up with the Pistix.

Tom, You switched motor wires because your motor was runing backwards more than likely, as it would have nothing to do with the setup of the ESC.
I am puzzled why you mentioned the program card in this case, if it doesn't give you the option between stick and pistol radios.

I was trying to use a AM pistol with the hex and it didnt work either, I have to use my 6channel heli fm tx and bought a receiver for it. it is actually convienient now I have one controller for all my model. I do have to say I wish I coulda afforded the castle hydra. A little more amp's and the ease of ordering from OSE. United cought on quick around here eh

Speaking of the hex. Mine held up today under 19.2 volts @ half throttle for 4 minutes @ only 108 degrees...Not to bad for that kind of abuse. Tomorrow evenning condidions permitting I will have a complete wot run.
