Check this out, found it cruising some rc boat forums. The caption states that the Swiss are experimenting with ventilating thier props similar to how some real boats are doin w/ exhaust. Im guessing this would be on the larger gassers. I wonder if it works? In any event, it looks sick!

i readed this threat sometime before, i think he use it as water outlet not muffler, and i also remember, its did not help at all but, its does look tight tho

I'll jump in here and may drown but so be it.
I have seen this pic before and can not recall where, lots of forums and lots of hours on the net does that.
The idea of ventilating props from above or forárd is not new. Ask Peter Knight Snr as he was one of (if not the) first to do it.
For those who may not be familiar with Peter Knight, He is one of New Zealands finest.

What I see here is an exhaust / muffler for a IC motor.
IF it is a ventilating system I would love to see the plumbing prior to what we see here.See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

And you think I would have saved the link... at 1am I wasn't thinking straight. I was doing a Octura prop search to school myself about the different series of props offered. It was model boating or model power boats or something. I think its just cool that if it is infact plumbed into the exhaust, that its just plain cool that they tried it. And even if its a water outlet, again, thier attention to detail is just amazing.
Ive got a CT04 thats been sitting on the shelf for a couple years now, waiting to be powered and finished. Its great to get ideas, even if its just for scale looks, which is what I really appreciate. Even as a water outlet.. not bad looking at all.Last edited by tiqueman; 09-11-2009, 12:04 PM.

According to Simplicity Marine, It helps to vent the prop while accelerating to get on plane. Takes some of the load off of it and lets it spin up more rpm. Almost like a controlled cavitation... That what I understand anyway

It breaks the prop lose when getting out of the hole. This way you can run larger props and get them to spin from a stop.
At least that is why we did it on outboards. My raker prop has holes in the hub....I drilled them slightly larger and it helps. Sends exhaust bubbles out around the prop.
Might help RC boats in corners as well but not sure about that.
Many cleaver props on Merc had the entire hub of the lower unit exposed and all of the exhust would hit the prop.
