you're right only 42, 45, 51mm existe in both left and right!
if you want to cut a 51mm right hand prop to 48mm that's no problem as long as you do the same with a left hand one so that they are fully symetric!

I would suggest a sort of mount in witch a prop shaft can rotate by hand, attach a Dremel (or equivalent) to the mount so that you can adjust its position, use a fiber filled griding disk at low rpm or a carbide tip on the Dremel, this mount can be easyly made of plywood, the aim is to keep the Dremel at the same distance from the prop!

Its not hard. Start at the tongue and file to the tip.

Just remember that cutting down a 50 mm prop to 45mm diameter does NOT equal an original 45mm prop. The pitch on the cut-down prop is still the same as the 50mm prop, so the cut-down prop will load the motor more than an original 45mm prop. This is not a problem unless you try to substitute the cut-down prop for an existing 45mm - the boat will then not perform the same.

once again, these guys make it sound easy.......take your time, do exactly as they instruct and you "should" be fine.......I tried doing something similar and the boat never moved again with the cut down prop.......not 1 mph !!!
