Help with choose of new motor with 12s

    Hi,

The boat hull: V-hull, 1300mm/51 inches long
    Esc: I'm thinking swordfish 300a 12-15s datalog
    Motor: I'm thinking about 1000kv, 56 or 58m
    Batteries: 2 x 6s 5.000 or 6000mah 65c

It's actually the Joysway Silverline rtr boat, but I'm going to change the electronics.

So can anyone please help me with a good motor? Is TP Power good, have heard the bigger ones isn't always reliable. Any experince?
    Thanks!!

You will likely fry all your electronics with a motor having a Kv of 1000 (or 1050 like the factory model), that or not get the boat on an efficient plane. On 12S you will probably want a Kv around 700-750 to be able to swing a large enough prop to move that hull. It was originally designed as a gas hull and needs a big prop.

I don't know about the quality of large format TP motors, nor the big Leopards, but the TP would be my choice of the two.

What are your speed and runtime expectations?
    What is your budget?
Can you run 2P to extend run time?
How will you run the boat - zip-zip passes, on large lake, a small pond, for oval racing?

      Thanks!

Actually I have 5692 1000kv in another Joysway model, the us1, 51 inch catamaran. I have been using 10s and a 60mm prop. The datalogger shows about 210amps, I have swordfish 240a in this boat, no heat issues. The stock esc, seaking 130a burned using 8s, and it also ruined my batteries as well.
But I'm going down a few mm on the prop, just in case

Wow, you have great knowledge regarding this boat (silverline). The stock prop is 60mm recommended with 8s. But they recommand 47mm with 12s. They say that the speed will then be approx 120km/hour or 75mph. Well, add another 10mph and there you have my goal. And I'm looking for a motor that can handle this..the swordfish 300a is good for an esc?

So, this is a bad choice then? It says it can handle 50volts? http://www.rcmaritimenorway.no/index...product&id=994

It will only use for passes on a large lake. I havn't thought about any bugdet limits

Three 300 amp Swordfish controllers have either failed or were found to be defective in my club. Others have had better luck. A 47mm prop is too small for a 51" boat. Believe who you want.

Okey. I'lle trust you. Do you recommand another powerful esc, prefered with datalog?

Okey. So to achieve my goal. A 750kv motor and how large prop? And how many s?
And I want this speed (75-85mph) in the Silverline :)
