T.P. motor

converting a nitro rigger to electric for sport running. its 42 " overall and with a 90 nitro motor and 1667 prop it ran 82 mph. I have a castle 240 and numerous 3-s 5000 65c packs. also have neu 1527 1 D, but think its too many kv's. what T.P. motor would you guys recommend? looking for mid 70's speed and decent run-times. thanks

I converted to and Eagle 45 SG to a Q hydro, it was a very tight build with several mods needed to the hull to take all the electrics and get them into the right place. I run 6s 5000mah cells and I get 8 to 9 laps max out.

The build was a pig and had taken time to get setup however it is now running really well and handles choppy water really well

hi, i have built a 45 outrigger with 6-s 4082 1600 kv, this boat is a 90 size rigger. dont know if i can run it on 6-s, but would like to. here is a pic with a 4082 for size comparison. 001.jpg

Now that's a big rigger, you will probably want a 56mm can to power that, and a lot of mah.

Max voltage for the Castle depends on the exact model but is probably 8S. That's not exactly an outrigger, closer to a sport hydro...meaning heavy. Depending on your performance expectations a 1530-sized motor can work, but so can a 56xx. The latter may work better due to the larger prop it can swing.

thanks jay. this boat, although a little on the heavy side, will run light on the water because of it's design. I'm looking for around 70 mph sport running with decent run-time. on 8-s with the castle 240 (mamba xl2 water-cooled ) which 56 motor do you recommend ? thanks, john

I'd probably go with the TP 5670 5D 1320kv on 8s it'll be turning about 39,000rpm max, just a hair on the hot side but should be fast propped right.

Sometimes you have to do 8 laps if CD instructs you to stay on the course. I'm not sure if I'm referring to NAMBA or IMPBA.

I wish some of these motor manufacturers would include more info with their motors. How many cells? RPM max? Maybe even a few prop recommendations would be helpful.

Manufacturers use to set max voltage and rpm for their motors that doesn't mean you have to use it...prop recommendation is something that I would like to hear from them.....forget it..here is the right place to get the right info for what we need.Gill
