I'm new to the forums but not RC boating. Bought a Genesis with the SSS 3674 2075 kv motor that it comes with. Read a lot of comments about what a bad motor it is so I thought let's see. Here's what I got so far. Stock motor swordfish 220 Esc 3/16 drive offset rudder x443 prop 2 40c zippy 5000 3s in series. 63.5 mph. Not once but many times. I admit the motor gets quite hot. 60c. But it has yet to give up. Not bad for a motor that's got such a bad rap. Just my 2 cents.

What are you doing for cooling? I have the Genesis as well with a Seaking 180A ESC, stock motor, dual offset rudder, larger 4mm ID cooling hoses and X438 prop. I have tried running it with 2 Revolectrix 70C 3S 5500 batteries in series and only get a few passes before it overheats. Thought maybe the batteries were too much for the set up so I tried 2 Revolectrix 30C 3S 5100 batteries series and had the same result. I too have been reading a lot of posts in reference to the Genesis and have not heard too much bad about the motor only that it is probably a high KV for 6S. I have been looking into buying a new motor with a lower KV like the Leopard 1800.

Hi there. First 2 rudders causes drag. Loose the left rudder. I use the stock cooling hose. Your battery is fine but I place the front of batteries level with rear motor mount screws or even 1/2" further back. Strut as high as it can go and dead level. Try a 442 prop. Never run boat on calm water it's too sticky. I go out on breezy days and a slight chop on the water. Hull needs to lift out of water to be fast. A 4074 or 4082 1800 kv would be ideal I think. I have tried a 4082 1500 kv but a 1800 is probably the better choice

I may end up going with the 1600Kv because if my math is correct, and there is a good chance its not, then running 6S the 1600kv would turn 35,520 rpms. How did yours run on the 1500kv?
I also think I may be running it a bit wet which would certainly increase the heat so I will try your battery set up and see how it worx.Last edited by Smitty1035; 07-22-2015, 07:47 PM.
