Need Help with a Lehner 1940 4 wind motor

Tried a 1940 in a 2 lap boat this weekend. After the third time the motor unplugged it self we finally realized the windings and rear end bell is rotation in the can. If I hold the motor in my hand I can turn the windings and end bell by hand. Any suggestions?

How big is this boat? The windings are pressed in from what I understand. Where you over heating the motor? Little bit about your setup? 3919kv doesn't belong in very many boats unless it's quite small.

I have talked to Tyler and he will be able to take care of the issue. I purchased the motor used, I am pretty sure the person I got it from didn't know it had a problem. But the boat is a 28" JAE type hydro on 4S running a 40mm prop. Moderate load but not extreme. With a healthy motor this should be a pretty good 2lap setup. I was not able to run the boat long enough to get it warm, ESC had very short leads so it unplugged itself pretty quick.

I would say that with 3919 loaded kv on 4s in a JAE a 40mm prop would be an extreme load. On 4s I was pulling over 120A with a detouged x438 in mine on only 2700kv (unloaded).

Paul and KFXGUY, thanks for the comments. If the setup was in a cat or mono I would agree. The JAE's are pretty efficient, I have attached a file below showing the current and temperature of the controller. The prop was a 1640 octura out of the bag. I wish I had noticed that I did not have all the options selected in the logging. I could usually run a little over a minute before it unplugged itself. The setup looked really good.

Doug Thanks, It was a lot of fun. Now the 10S setup is extreme. you have 3 laps, the 4th lap and the rotor comes apart. You still planning on making the august trial?

14 sec., that is quick, a 14sec lap is fast, but two! Awesome stuff. Don't suppose there is a video of that?

Apologies, I wasn't aware of your experience. Most guys cannot get away with running a hot setup like that, the reason for my reply.

That is pretty efficient if you are only pulling 120A on a 4S set-up and still going that fast. I run about the same current in a heat race set-up for P Hydro with the 1415 1Y. Time to prop up.

Howard, yes, in IMPBA we have several legal courses that we can set records on. The 2 mostly used are 1/3 mile and 1/4 mile. The 1/4 mile record is made up of 2 1/8 mile laps. We start timing at buoy 1 and end at buoy 1. We did a straight line run with the boat without the turning just to check speed and it was running 97mph.
