Not impressed with TP power!!

Actually it was three months. They had it for a month before I first posted. If it was during our boating season I would have been really pissed off. We only have a limited amount of time to run and had it happened at the start of the season it would have meant a brand new boat on the shelf for the entire yr. Luckily that was not the case. From what Junlin told me in the email they will no longer be sending motors to the plant in china for repairs. They will take care of their customers in house so in the future the turn around should be much quicker. They change the design of the can again as well. Hopefully for the better!

That's interesting, I didn't know that they have a facility here in the US. I thought Junlin is the rep. She is now here in Los Angeles.
Anyway, that is good news.
I actually prefer the older cans, the one I had was out of spec and the front mounting holes are so shallow that you need to use short m3 screws to avoid damaging the stator.
Just saying.......

If i read between the lines i think what he is saying is that if the motor requires shipment to china for repair they will just replace it instead.As for the new cans all he said was that they are a bit shorter.

That makes sense.
I don't want to dwell on the subjuct of the older can vs. the newer can, but I actually don't know what they mean by newer ones. You see, it is my impression that the "original ones " are the so-called two pieces cans, the front is a separate end bell that has bolts fastened to the main can, you can see it on Finedesign's web page. Then they moved to the one piece can.
My complaint is the DEPTH of the front endbell before it hits the windings of the stator. On the 4050 motor i received and was told that it was a new style can, I realized right away that I need to pay attention to the length of the M3 bolt. In the past I can use 8mm length without any problem, given the fact that most motor mounts are at least 2mm thick if not more, then you add the washers ( one normal and one self-locking in some cases) and you won't damage the stator no matter how you try. NOT in this case, that particular motor was so shallow that I had to use a 6mm bolt and still feared that damaging will result.
Now, I returned the motor for a full refund but I like to know if that was just a fluke or this is the norm now.
I apologize if this seems trivial to some, but I was so annoyed with that encounter.

That may have been the newer design. Maybe thats the end that they shortened. Personally I am not a fan of the whole pattern and the thin amount of material around them. Even if the new motor rocks, i cant see me buying another.

The 36xx motor can ( I have a few) seems so much better, but that too could have been changed already.....

Is this the motor you had in the rigger? Can't wait to see that one running, just about have everything under control now, cottage should be sold and the estate closed by spring. Really want to get back to boating next summer, really missed it! Got a couple new toys for next summer, not including planes....

I have the 3640/2460kv in my JAE 21 rigger, on 4s with a H7 it does 70mph. That is an old rigger and I am not sure if it is really running true---meaning the sponson angles and what not, so , yes, I love that motor. And I have a PT30 Stealth Hydro that uses a 3640/2100kv along with a TFL Libero hydro that is running on a 3630/2100kv ( motor D Peterson originally wanted to test for D4 racers).
I have nothing bad to say about their 36xx motors.

LOL Ken, we run in the same group of people, when life doesn't interfere. I never saw his new rigger run last summer.
