Inrunner: The internals of the motor spins while the motor can (shell) is fixed, this makes water cooling easier and makes higher RPMs possible.
Outrunner: The internals of the motor are fixed while the motor can (shell) spins. This makes water cooling difficult and due to more centrifugal mass in rotation, more torque is possible.
Short version: Inrunner = RPMs / Outrunners = Torque
The thing I found out with outrunners is the m/mount cooling hole for coupler isn't very big. The outrunner shaft isn't very long but I took coupler to the grinder and shaved it motor end down enough so part of coupler entered the cooling portion for clearance to get a good grip. Now here's where a Dremel comes in handy to smooth the grinder edge. Take your time here and pays off too. I believe outrunners have more torque and like the gentleman said a pita, but there are ways to compensate.
