I did check into turbines...not that I was ever planning on running them, but just out of curiousity. Looks like about 5k each.

It's the drives that are killing me on this thing. $700 is ridiculous.

About 50-60mm, I think.
They were part of my original plan, but the overhang on this thing is pretty long.

I think I'm going to start with 465s or even 457s for the maiden, then move up to 665s if all is well.

BTW, why do you think 5698's cant handle rpms? The 835kv's on 10s should rock that hull too.

My original intent was 1000kv-1100kv on 12s. I don't think it's necessarily the best choice to push a leopard that hard.
I came a long way from my original intent, and I'm still not convinced this will be the way I want go, so if I don't like it look for a pair of 2028s in the swap shop.
30,000RPMs is very low compared to what I've been doing with twins up to this point. I am slightly out of my own wheelhouse with a cat this big so I'm willing to try something different. If I had unlimited funds I would like to try 1530s just to see what they would do, because I'm relatively sure no one has ever tried. I went with the 2028s because I think they will have the biggest power potential and also a good resale if I should decide to use something else.

I know you've used one or two of these, what are your thoughts? Did yours stay cool on 10s with a good sized prop?

I run 2028's in a large 1/8 Hydro on 9s and a 47" Mono on 10s. The Hydro swings an s270 cut down to 62mm diameter and the Mono has an x457/3...................the Hydro comes in around 135* after a full run and the Mono around 140*.

Temps are really not much of an issue for these babies since they were engineered with large buggies in mind running in desert heat, i bet they can stand 180-190* all day. I know thats not what we would want but they are solid motors.

check out the 2, 2.1, 2.3, 2.6, 2.7 series props. there are numerous pitches in each Dia. range and there are CR
version available in those series.

Check out this beauty, 6516/3..............ran it on the Hydro til I buggered it up on rocks, now its a 5816/3 LOL

These could be real sweet on that Cat in a bit smaller size/pitch. Remember, you have two 10hp motors!!!!!! I have data logged 8000 watts on mine........whats that 10.3hp? Working together they can swing some big props!

That is something I've not thought about of those motors..
