5692 Leopard Motor. Is a 6mm good enough?

I remember seeing this issue raised a while ago. I'm about to start my build and I am wondering if 6mm is good enough?
I heard some people had actually bent the 5 ans 6 mm shafts on these motors before??
I also see that Steven has mostly 8mm shafts in the shop and the new HK 56 series motors all have 8mm shaft.

I want to use it with a 1/4 cable.

What do you guys think?

Haven't bent any of my 5692 shafts. My question is, how could anyone bend a 6mm shaft anyway? Short of dropping the motor on it's shaft I don't see how a firmly installed & well aligned motor could get bent. My new Turnigy 5692 has an 8mm shaft and looks bulletproof, but it's a bit of an overkill to me.

You should have no shaft problems with a Leopard 5692 & 1/4" flex drive as long as the motor is firmly mounted, is properly aligned with the stuffing tube, less than 1/2" of the flex drive exposed between the ST & motor collet, and the ST firmly mounted at the motor end to eliminate any flex drive whip. I would prefer 8mm, bigger is better..less vibration

I'd like to see Leopard 56XX series with a 8mm shaft also. But there's nothing patently bad running a 6mm shaft. How well a motor is designed, built & balanced is key here. If the rotor and shaft are not perfectly balanced it won't make a rat's pitutie of difference running a 6mm or 8mm shaft. JIM
