Just wondering what everyone thinks is a safe timnig setup for starting on a 1600kv 4082 leopard motor. Also what is everyone else finding as optimal timing?

This is in a cf daytona with a Seaking 180A esc and going to run 6s
I am looking to do some sport running at first then graduate to quicker speeds as I get the bugs worked out (me included in those bugs lol)CF Fightercat Daytona, 21 year old Hitec Sea Nymph, Genesis and many more to come im sure.

Mine runs from a SK180 also. My timing is at 11.25 degrees. I think thats what the programming card says. Its the only 11 degree timing option anyway. Use quality batteries and start with an X445 prop. Ill post a link to some new, interesting batteries Ive yet to try, but have good reviews from a few racers here.

my leo 4082 1800kv is at 11.25 right now. it just "felt" better to me. i have no technical jargen to back anything up heh… but i did try 7.5 and, i dunno, it just didnt feel right. optimal for me is what felt good, so ill prolly blow it up but w/e lol. its a mean machine hull 5s m445

I figured I was going to start with a M445 prop and work from there. Is there a difference between the M445 and a X455 Seemed from the specs that they were one in the same?CF Fightercat Daytona, 21 year old Hitec Sea Nymph, Genesis and many more to come im sure.

M series are de tounged. They unload the prop a bit more an can give a bit more top end speed. Use the X series first for the maiden. Only progress to more aggressive props after you verify temps are in check.

You will have more traction with the X prop and less cavitation, the opposite with an M prop. De tounged props cavitate when accelerating from a dead stop or coming too slowly out of a turn. This has been my experience anyway.
