Neu versus Leopard

A simple question to people who own and have run both, which is better ( durability, amp draw, bearings etc.) regardless of price. The reason I ask this as I am in the market for a new motor and have never run a Leopard.

The Neu has better quality parts. But, performance wise I havent noticed a difference. Plus, I've never had a leopard go bad. Therefore, I will continue to use Leos.

Amen. The Leo's are top quality for the bux. Only thing I can add is the Leo consumes more juice out of a pack in comparison between the 2. I had a 1515/1Y in my UL1 and decided to toss in a Leo 4074/2150kv for giggles. I didnt notice any decrease in speed but did notice when charging the same packs (dedicated to the UL1 only) the Leo took more out of the packs. Not a bunch. 200 to 300 miliamps. But it was consistent.

So what do I do? I end up putting in a CC/1512! Hows that for not being able to make up my mind. It would be good to hear from someone running a Neu 1521 and a 4082 just to hear their perspective. You would like a Leo Douggie. Not hard on the wallet and like Rummy stated. You dont hear anyone complaining about Leo performance.

I believe neu are better motors for race use.
I run leos for sport-fun and the only thing i do is a bearing upgrade with ceramics.

Is there somewhere that lists or sells ceramic bearings for the leopards of all sizes?

I've only had one experience with a Leopard.

I run a 1515/1y Neu or 1515 CC/Neu interchangeably in my P-mono. I was given a 4082-2200 to try in the setup. It should have been a strait drop in. If you look at the manufacturers ratings, a slight edge in wattage goes to the Leopard. The 1515's were consistent performers in the combo, nothing outragous just a detongued and worked over X447. The 4082-2200 went 3 laps and smoked.

Lots of guys run them. The Leos are great sport motors and bang for the buck, hard to beat. But ultimately, if you want a serious race motor, buy a Neu (or a UL-1 and run p-limited).

BTW it took a quart of denatured alcohol to get the burnt Leopard smell out of my mono.

Out of interest do you find much difference in power and temps between the CC and NEU?
