    SeaKing 300A V4 - HV with "D" Wind motors

Considering that the 300A V4 HV has a minimum timing setting of 10*, has anyone tried one with a 4 pole "D" Wind motor? (will be running high RPM)

I am considering a set of these for a twin Mystic 114 in SAW configuration, since I want to run 10 and 12s. (otherwise would run XLX2's of course). Will be going with TP motors, likely the 4060 CM 1490kv D wind. Other option would be the 4060 SVM 1482kv 4Y, but I hear the CM line is more robust so would rather going with that. Also considering the regular series TP 4060 1350kv 4Y, since the CM and SVM's have mixed opinions about their reliability. Just trying to get all the information before making a decision. So many choices!

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks

10 and 12S is too much weight for a 114 Mystic cat. That's a 4, 6, or 8S hull. Also, no need for the SCM or CM TP motors, their regular series are excellent performers and the benefits of the SVM and CM series don't add anything to a 114cm SAW setup. With that said, I would set it up for 6S, possibly even select kV for a mild 6S setup and then run 8S for a hot setup depending on your speed goals. Castle Hydra X8S would be my pick for ESC's. Lighter and more compact that the XLX2, but if you're going for all out performance, the XLX2's can handle more current and will fit.

Yes I agree it will be a fair amount of weight and possibly a bit ridiculous, but that's kind of how I roll lol

This will be a 2 pull SAW set-up only. I have other boats for bashing and whatnot. I'm wanting to break 200kmh (124.3mph). I originally planned for XLX2's on 8s , but just exploring other options. I am a big fan of HV, since I do not compete and don't care about meeting any regulations

I was playing around with different configurations of batteries:

      (12s) 6x 5000mAh 4s SRD V4's = 6.6 pounds (separate power per ESC, which is what I prefer)
      (12s) 2x 5000mAh 6s SRD V4's = 3.2 pounds (common power, not preferred)
      (12s) 2x 6300mAh 6s SRD V4's = 3.8 pounds (common power, not preferred)
      (10s) 2x 5000mAh 6s SRD V4 and 2x 5000mAh 4s SRD V4 = 5.5 pounds
      (8s) 4x 6300mAh 4s SRD V4's = 5.3 pounds
      (8s) 4x 5000mAh 4s SRD V4's = 4.4 pounds

My thought was that the extra one or two pounds to go from 8s to 12s would be offset by the extra power, but I don't have any hands on experience with this hull yet so input is definitely appreciated. I did build an overweight Explorer (almost 17 pounds lol), and was still able to hit decent speeds, but yes it was way better after I downsized everything to 6s (just under 13 pounds). But with the mystic hull being 9 inches longer and much wider, thought it would handle the weight. Maybe I am wrong?

I was just curious if anyone has tried D wind on 10* with the 300HV, I'm assuming this is not a good idea but thought I better ask anyway, assuming it will be limited to Y wind. And yes I have found the same information about the CM, SCM and SVM motors. I hear the CM's are far more robust than the SCM and SVM, so definitely want to stay away from those. But yes, I was leaning towards the regular series based on my research, I like the price tag a lot better too ha ha I've had good results from the regular series motors as well.

Leaning towards XLX's, but again, trying to learn all the options.

      Thanks!

Youre overthinking it. I ran a 32" cat on 4S at 102mph, and a 37" cat on 6S at 103mph, both were single motor setups. At the mini shootout last weekend, the top gun winner went 117mph on a 6S twin Zonda. The only fast boats at that even that run 10, 12, and 14S are 55" and bigger. My 57" cat runs 12S and did 111mph on smaller props. 12S in a 114 is a massive weight penalty and you're still targeting the same SAW RPM range as the lighter 6S and 8S setups. Sure, 12S will be pulling much lower amps, but there's no more power to be had.

I do tend to think about things in depth before dropping a few grand on a toy lol. That is great information, thanks for your insight. The XLX2 really is a game changer with the current it can handle, matched with the incredible LiPo technology we have today. Makes sense to take advantage of this and stick with the lighter set-up.

          Thanks again
          Cheers!
