    esc for 32" mono / 4s : any experience with Swordfish 220A ?

    I keep seeing burn-outs on the Turnigy escs (seaking, aquastar, etc...) and do not want to be throwing $$ away and have a un-reliable speedo.

    Looking at the Swordfish 220 amp as sold by OSE. Any experience with this one? It is $116 with program card. Will be running a Leopard 4074 2150kV 4S2P.

    or something else?

      Seaking 180 you haven't been seeing burnouts from. That's what I'd recommend.

          cool. how about using the built-in BEC ? not a problem on 4s i am guessing? I see that many run a separate BEC using a small external lipo. only required for 5s or 6s use? thank you.

              The BEC will work fine up to 6S. You could run 4S as well with the internal BEC. It is an awesome esc and great bang for your buck.

                  Yup I ran a SK180 in a 30" mono on 6s with high KV and never once had an issue.

                              Another vote for the Seaking 180A. I bought one in August 2010 and it's still going strong!

                                  Turnigy 120 and 180 are Seaking escs, no differences, the Aquastar 90 and 120 are swordfish......Just re labeled for HK. No idea who makes the Aquastar 200 or the 120 that looks almost the same, they are not Swordfish.
                                  I don't know if I like Swordfish or not, mine have been very reliable but don't calibrate correctly, always have to turn up the throttle channel travel to get full throttle. Other than that I've beaten on mine.
                                  The Seaking 180 is probably the best value esc going, tough, decent rating and cheap in the scheme of escs. Probably one of the more popular ones out there as well.
                                  Any esc can and will fail for any number of user related problems, I always take a uses skill level into account when I read threads about failed escs. Can be traced to cheap batteries that can't supply the current. Boat not set up properly, too big a prop, wrong motor choice, bad soldering or wrong connectors, boat leaks......
                                  Chances are if the are going to fail due to components or assembly it will be on first power up. Some user damage is cumulative though and takes a few runs to fail. Like the capacitors etc.
                                  If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

                                      okay, thank you. Just purchased the last v3 in the U.S. I could find. seems like maxing out a esc; 6s using the bec is where they fail. could be connectivity, etc..
