You had it wired wrong too at battery side. You cannot run each wire to each battery with LV castle. You have to tie both wires together first. Did you flip the boat and get controller under water? That may kill it, but not in this destructive way. I think what got it is high power load with wrong wiring setup on battery side.

I think others have covered most of the probable causes. Those long power wires are another cause, they are even worse when running close to the voltage limit of the ESC. Don't think that a wet controller can't turn to charcoal as the boards short out and the FETs start to go....its a lv on 6s2p neu 1515 1.5y x646 the hull is a h and m drifter 41 inches long i had about 20 runs speeds around 100 -110kph

I have run 240LVs since they came out and the only ones I've toasted were my fault - wet, SAW racing, etc. But then I consider the LV Castles as 4S controllers tops. With that small format motor in that hull the OP is asking for trouble from any controller, perhaps short of a 32-170. A 1527/1Y would be a far better choice for that hull unless the OP wants to keep buying ESCs.

that motor and prop wont be drawing more than 120 amps i have ran a hydra 120 and a barracuda 125 the same way there was a bit of water inside when i got it back it has to be the water that got into the esc
when yous say the hull is to big for the motor with a 1521 1y it ran a high of 111kph
with a 1515 1.5y 109 kph with more runtime
so what motor should i use i think that 1515 motor is
for that size hull

How are you measuring your amp draw and speed? As many have stated 6S voltage on that esc is not a good idea. As for the motor you have had a very good suggestion.

46mm prop will put you in 200 - 300A territory, my guess.

I have seen this boat run and it is quick, it was setup By AndrewG @ fastelectrics, and have seen the data logger results it runs around 120-135 amps. He also ran a 125amp speedy 20+ times until a wire cam off it and it blew, so the setup is ok to me, but i am no expert

I wonder how he wired data logger to that controller. Since on the picture it looks like battery wires are not tied together (+ to +, - to -), if he only measured one side of Hydra 240, and got a result you posted, then that controller is maxed out (135A * 2 = 270A). When the wire comes off the board, it means it got so hot, that solder has melted. That happens when controller shorts out first, then wires get hot enough to melt solder, from passing 400 - 600A of short circuit current. it was logged using a 120 hydro esc i have some clips of this boat on you tube under 6ofthebest1 using a 1521 the 1515 is a few kays slower i have ran 1521 with a 120 hydra and that was ok to so to say the 1515 1.5y is doing 200-300 amps while using a 120 esc sound just about rigth the h and m hulls a very ligth fully loaded with 2 6s packs under 4kg
