Finally a decent spec'd budget charger

Most of the cheapo chargers are vastly underpowered if you read the specs. This one is up there power-wise with a Hyperion Duo & TP dual with 2 x 400W. Not bad (if they hold up ?) for $149.95 and free shipping this month. Great for the 2P guys for sure.

    For a single 400W charger : $79.90

      Gee, let's see :

      Hitec "Multiport Charger : 4 X 50W = 200W total ; $6.25/W

      Ultimate 800 Charger : 2 X 400 W = 800W total ; $ 1.87/W

You decide which is the better deal

Ron, Where do you think the Hitec charger is made ? Probably the same factory as the Ultimate is, if not right next door. Look at it another way ; you can charge 4 X 4S 5000's at 1C in the Hitec.. It will be at it's full blown max continuous rating. Charge four of the same batteries on the Ultimate ; it will be at one-half it's potential output. That's a safety zone I'd rather have. The Hyperion 1000W Duo costs $249.95 on sale here, a Thunderpower Duo, 800W, costs $245 online at various vendors. I'm not advocating that the Ultimate is better or worse, just a decent price point for its specs - way better than the multitude of closely priced wimpy output chargers you constantly see for sale in the swap shop after unsuspecting buyers realize what they bought without examining the specs and were caught up in the ad hype. When I race I have seven or eight classes/boats to keep charged between heats and saving money on my bank of chargers (I currently have three Hyperions) helps me keep the rent current too !

Here is another good 1000watt charger for $159 http://epbuddy.com/index.php?main_pa...roducts_id=106

            I have 3 of these for $189 http://epbuddy.com/index.php?main_pa...products_id=45

These are excellent chargers. I charge in parallel and have zero problems keeping up with several boats in a day.

I've heard good things about these. A little misleading about output :

"1000W output @ 23V input" is what they'll do, but most of us I know of have 12V input with car/marine batteries or 12V gen output.

              on 12V in : 500W - (still very adequate for 2P charging at 1C)

If the Ultimate puts out a full 800W at 12V in (specs only say will work with 12V-18V) it should be the schizzle

                Mr Properchopper Sir,
Your tip on the above mentioned charger (Sky Duo charger) may be just the ticket I've been looking for. The illuminated dual pannels would sure be handy feature too. Pardon my ignorance but can you see any reason why I could NOT use an old lap top power supply I have? The supply I have says: Output 19V --- 3.2A
                Input: 100-240V 1.8A 50-60hz
I'll appreciate your feed back at your convenience. Thank you kindly .
                They call me DOUBLE D

                  Derrick,

Not enough ; 3.2A out = only 3.2A charging power

This would be a good companion - lots of power (25A constant) for the $$ .

Or just go with a automotive/marine battery to lug around lakeside

Aaah yes. I did go back to the hobbypartz site and saw this power supply. I quickly realized that my laptop power supply would be inadequate. Thanks for confirming. Of course, they're out of stock right now on the G350 supply. I'm sure there are other places on the web that I may be able to find a good power supply. I'll pass on the "lug around a auto/marine battery" as an alternative power source. BTW, it's easy for us less experienced to ask such questions when the information is so forth coming form peeps like yourself [compliment]. I'll amp up my research though.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Mr Properchopper....as always. Peace and keep it upright!

I charge all packs in parallel so I basically charge 2p all the time and I used 1 charger to keep up with 3 boats.

But since I pull a trailer to the lake I have the room and ability to run 12 or 24v. I charge at 2c.
