Car battery charger as power supply?

I see a lot of people converting PC power supplies to provide 12v for DC chargers but why can't I seem to find anyone using just a car battery charger? Anyone care to enlighten me why this may not be a suitable power supply?

    Thanks

i think this has to do with my question about ripple current.i have used a 12v battery & a charger in combination & had success, but that is alot of equipment.

10 Amps? whoa try the trickle setting between 1 and 5 amps max . I just charged my 3s lipos with a old azz car charger at 2 amps had to keep a meter on it to make sure not to overcharge. A lipo specific charger is much safer for your batteries though.

I don't think he meant charge the battery directly(I sure didn't). I was referring to using the car batt charger as a DC power supply for a lipo charger.

It works, I guess it just depends on the charger..

I was using the car charger as a power source for the lipo charger...........not directly charging the batts with the car battery charger.............doesnt work

I have used a car battery charger on older chargers, it does not seem to work with Hyperion chargers.
