Looks nice. I am trying to replicate the RL Power discharger or a version of it for 4S. All components were cheap from China but had to wait a month for them. Almost done building it, I need more Arctic silver epoxy.

There is a thread somewhere that someone used an old hair dryer converted and it works well!! It came from RC Groups I think?

Something like this?
I must arm a discharger yet. I improvise with lamps of cars type H7 or H1 or H4 that are of 12v 35w / 55w and I connect them in series to download a pack of 6s.
Just be careful with the temperature of the incandescent bulbs.

That's what I'm making.
If you wait you can buy the parts for roughly 1/2 the price or less.

That unit is only for 1S and 2S packs, and is to be used with a iCharger 406/308/4010 unit.Originally posted by jim82 View PostGoing to give this one a shot https://m.ebay.com/itm/40A-Lipo-Batt...9783%7Ciid%3A1

I am using two layers of 4 Resistors for a total of 8 and 6 fans. MOre like a big mac. Top and bottom 4 are in parallel and the two are then in series to get correct resistance I wanted.
All 1ohm 100watt resistors. Total R is .5 ohms. Since I do 4S packs mainly, it will pull about 30'ish amps. I have a voltage monitor and will get a heavy contact manual switch for it.

I use small heater/demister units for cars & trucks. Cheap as chips.
Here's a link with some info & numbers if you are interested.
I started with a 24V unit for 6s packs, & then also bought a 12v unit for the 2s, 3s ,& 4s packs.

The heaters seems an excellent idea. But it is not common to find them where I live. I use automotive halogen lamps.
I got 24V 150W lamps to assemble a small battery discharger. Simple.
