need help with battery choice and configuration

can someone explain 6s2p for me. im tring to decide if i need a swordfish 300 amp esc or a 240 esc. 36 inch cat neu 1527 1250 motor. i believe 6s2p is 4 3s lipos. and i think i could run 2 4 cell making 8 cell with the 300 amp. just curious which may be faster when everything is dialed in. i have the motor already just trying to decide on bstteries and esc.

8s will of course make the boat go faster. Questions is for how long. Do you just want to run as fast as possible for short runs? Or are you looking to run oval or sport racing for extended times?

6s2p can be 2 x 6s packs connected in parallel.Or.
6s2p can be 2 sets of 2 x 3s packs connected in series, to make 2 x 6s packs. Then those 2 x 6s packs are connected in parallel. So yes a total of 4 x 3s packs connected in series/parallel.

To make the 8 cell pack, the two 4s packs must be connected in series.

Electronically, they serve different purposes. Batteries are wired in series to increase voltage while runtime (mAh) remains the same. Batteries are wire in parallel to increase runtime while voltage remains the same.
