SMC VS Dinogy lipo battery

Should probably try this revo brand out, dinogy is pretty good, explosive power but if there is something better i would gladly make the switch.

May sound like a stupid question but if they're a bit higher in voltage, how do you charge them to 4.27v per cell? I use an older hitec duo charger so maybe the more advanced ones allow for manually programming voltage or something?

Not all chargers will charge to higher voltages but some will. My icharger will, but I'm not sure how high. I've never actually tried to find the max. I've got to charge some lipos tomorrow so I'll check and see how high it can be set.
I've actually only used the Revos at 4.2v/cell but ill probably try 4.3v/cell (if the icharger will do it) sometime before the season is over and see what the difference is. I would expect to see a slight voltage gain under load relative to the additional starting voltage.
With a starting voltage of 4.2v/cell, I've seen 3.6v/cell at 380A load, and that's with just 4200mah. Outside of the revo 70C, I would typically expect to see around 3.2v/cell at such an extreme load.

Well if it is not true I would like to know what packs world record holders use.

The world record was set several years ago by a rigger running 32 NiMh cells, there is plenty more power available now with LiPo cells and bigger ESCs that have come out since, but the JAGs team designed and built world class boats, drivelines and props, and have still not been beaten, though some have come close and I don't expect it to stand much longer.

Ok! The reason you haven't seen a lot of my boat is because I'm building other stuff. And when my cnc prop broke it wiped out one of my esc's when water got in. The lipos rock! I use them is a 1/5 scale custom Truck that uses a Skyrc Beast 524 910Kv motor. It is very hard on esc's if not used with the right Lipos! I have no problems when I use the SMC lipos. It makes so much power that it shreds tires to the point that I'm afraid to use it in the rocks or in harsh terrain. Which is where it really shine because of the high power out put. I halso had to make custom drive shafts because the stock ones would twist and bend in the first 30 seconds of use. The SMC are Great as far as what I have used them. It is all I buy now.
As for how there made. I can't say as I have no reason to take them apart and see why they work so great. I can show you that they work great.
Also if poeple that have a problem with a motor or a lipo that I have high regard for and have personal experience with I would love to here there input. But to here from the ones that haven't used or throwing cheap shots at something they haven't used is just silly. If you have video to back up what you find is best and holds weight. I try to do this when I can and I hope this is the reason this Post got started. f you have bought SMC and have had problems I'm guessing it was taken care of with the great customer service that is offered. I haven't had the need to use it. And base that on what I have read. I hope this clears anything up as to the video or what I have printed. I can say this with a certainty, The motor and esc are only as good as the power they draw from.

I use 3 different chargers The largest is the Turnigy 400X2 and the 2nd is the Eco 8 and the smallest is the Common sense Rc charger. They all work great for what they do.

Last saw event in La had these fast pass speeds. 4s cat 107 mph, 6s cat 124 mph, 8s cat 130 mph, and 10s cat 140 mph. All using Dinogy. Curious what packs have gone faster?
Congratulations to Doug Smock for nailing 97 mph in his mono at his saw event. Curious what packs you were using Doug?

I'm planning on doing a back to back lipo test from a few different companies. I have one on board already, working out details. I pm'd mark from dinogy to see if he's interested in joining in and I already have a couple different brands I've tested and I'm working on contacting a few other companies. A bench test means nothing to me. Real world results do. I'd like to show the difference between cheap batteries and good batteries. I think it matters even to us sport boaters....not just record holders. Who's interested?

Enter the new Revolectrix HV Silver labels which landed on my "high stress" test rig last night. After careful breakin the initial test indicates they maintain the highest sustained cell voltage under extreme load I've ever seen. And I do mean "sustained" (check out the individual cell graphs below). I assumed that just starting out at the "HV" rated 4.27v per cell would give a brief spike however it appears to also help sustain the curve thoughout the entire crushing 60 second 40C ordeal I subjected them to.

Although, the packs build could be better like how Dinogy's are made as shown in pics on Post #909

Agreed as the Revo packs and the ASpec Nano packs are doing really really well
Wish he could have included the Magnum packs with his testing as these are proving to be the fastest packs I have tried. but someone said they were the same as Gens Ace packs and we are finding out they are not the same packs
I do want some Revos to try against them... also some SMC packs
We are holding the FE Nats next year and I should have Buzz there with his packs to show them off

Yea...I just read a little bit on it and its way to long and way to technical for the average guy to follow. My test was going to be much much simpler but more interesting. Mark already pm'd me back and said he didn't have any batts he could loan me for the test. I'm not gonna worry with it.
