Can a Lipo short if it contacts marble?

Had the negative lead plugged into the balance board and the positive hit the marble tile and sparked and made a wonderful black mark. Is this from the marble or some freak accident? Questioning trying to plug in to check the battery on the charger???Any advise? 6s battery in case your wondering.

Pure marble is a very good insulator, so it should not have electrically conducted. But commercial marble countertops often include veining of other minerals, some of which might be conductive. Without seeing your area it is difficult to say. I'd advise putting the charger and pack on a piece of wood to eliminate this potential.

"Real" marble or cultured marble? Cultured marble could have any kind of material in it as it's a "man made" product.
Real marble is basically limestone and is a good insulator as Fluid stated.
