Long term lipo storage

Something have come up and I will not be able to run my boat till at least april. Is there a good way to store lipos for a long period with out have to worry about them. I do not have a way to balance or cycle them. Or am I better off selling them and get new ones when the time comes. They have been sitting most of the summer already.

The best way to store them is with a Charger that has a Storage mode and it olny bring's the voltage up some much Per-Cell I forget what it is for sure so I won't comment on that.

Try getting a Thunder AC6 Charger you can find them fairly cheap and they can also be found on ebay and they are a good charger.I don't think I would sell my Lipo's as it's going to cost you way more to replace them then a charger is going to cost you.

If you can't store them at 3.8-3.9 volts per cell and have no way to balance them then you would be better off selling them. My buddy stored his cells at full charge over the winter a couple seasons ago and they all puffed on him, now he can't give them away.

We must remember the following rules:

1. Batteries *die* simply from the fact that they are lying doing nothing. Even when properly storage. Average percentage of *funneling* capacity of the battery - about 10-20% per year. This means that even if you do not operate your batteries - they quietly die. Why - that's unfortunately a modern lithium polymer chemistry and technology production of this batteries.

2. Optimal voltage long-term storage - 3.8 volts for 1 cell. How to do it - you have mentioned in previous posts.

3. Maybe it will seem strange - but storing batteries in the home refrigerator (not the freezer) - reduces their extinction, and prolongs the life of his time.
I have very extensive experience in the use of these batteries rc boat model - so you hesitate to on this I can say.

Ray, I'm very new to this sport and starting to realize I need to do some research and respect the Lipo's. I do not want to become a victim. My question was serious. If you or anyone can send me a link on the proper charging and proper storage it would help me out a lot. I just have not found a link yet that is specific.

Put them in a wine cooler, it is similar to a fridge just 10 degrees warmer.

I just keep them in the coldest spot in my apt. in Lipo sacks at approx 3.8v - 3.9v. I'll try to find some old info for you. Not sure where it is.

I want to thank you gentlemen for the help. The nationals are 1.5 hours south of my house this year and I'm trying to get prepared. I have to speed up the learning curve to get prepared. Here is a couple pics of what I'm working on.

Lenny, I just walked away and took a break on the Spectrum. Running the Nomadio React and it's great. I only have 2 recievers for the react. I will use the React with my micro iceberg and MHZ Godzilla. I bought a couple spectrum Marine receivers, the mr3000 or what ever with the 2 antennas and my local hobbie shop said they would work with the Dx2. Nope!! I will upgrade to the Dx4 soon for my 2 p-spec riggers, my p-spec Woodstuff tunnel and future purchases. Below is a pic of my 100mph Toy!

the Allison's I see (when I am sport running my 60 mph toy) all have a "hood" to deflect the air around the motor.
Is that an add-on item, or do they come that way ?
