I have a Miss Geico that I recently damaged with a loose antenna into the prop...Ow!. When running nimH batteries they get so hot that the adhesive melts and softens and they slide loose. Is there a fix for this?? Surely I'm not the only one that has had this problem?

I do get long run times. I am using Tenergy 5000 maH batteries what type of batteries do you recommend I use?Originally posted by Fluid View PostYou are running your boat too long with inadequate batteries. They are getting too hot. Reduce run time, use a smaller prop, or get better cells.

I should have clarified that this with nimH batteries and I can get run times easily 15-17 min. if I vary the throttle.

Lipo's scare me a little I have already lost 2 boats because of Lipo's. My understanding was that nimH batteries could be run down nearly completely compared to Lipo power. Why is it a problem for me to run them down? I was going to try a setup similar to what Aquacraft uses in the Rio EP and use velco straps instead of the adhesive style.

I'm not sure I understand your point. I have only used Lipo's twice once somewhat successfully on a Stiletto and the other unsuccesfully on the Miss Geico for about 20 seconds. The esc is programmed to prevent damage to the lipo battery right? I bought the Proboat programming module to set the esc on the MG to lipo power. Is there a hard and fast rule about run times on nimH batteries?Originally posted by jcald2000 View PostYou are seeing the problem!!!
You are running to long on any battery and will continue to destroy things.

Cyno will stick the Velcro down, medium works best, thick is OK, thin is not recommend.Paul Upton-Taylor, Greased Weasel Racing.

I'm a rookie boater and am learning about the run time of a battery. I have been running 2 Duratrax 5000mah nimh batteries in a SuperVee 27R at about 15-20 minutes of half throttle to full out the whole time. Today one cell smoked up and was super hot. Methinks it didn't like those conditions?

Hi mate,
You should'nt run your boat on half throttle, that'll heat things up real quick!
I run 3 to 5 mins max on my 7 cell nimhs, they get warm but not hot...
Hope this helps mate,
Tone
