    Genesis 5S batteries

    Hi
I currently have 2 x 4000MAH 4S turnigy lipos that have been fine, however, im looking at getting a bit more speed out of my genesis
I was looking at the 5 S batteries
    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=17249

would be a pretty close fit, but was just wondering if anyone was using these, etc

Im about to upgrade the drive shaft and strut to 3/16th from the 4mm stock.

    also running a 2150kv 4074 leopard with a T180

You can fit up to 60mm wide and 50mm tall in the sponsons. Weight distribution is up to where you want to put them. Unless you're running 10s, though, it's a lot of extra weight to push around in the hull.

Hope this helps. G/L & enjoy!

well each of the batteries is only 100 Grams more than the batteries Ive already got in it.
I run them laying down sideways with the wires going to the outer of the hull, pretty much next to the motor

I was more wondering whether or not the 5S is a good idea, is the 3/16th good enough for that?
I mean at the moment the boat is fine, its still using the 2 piece drive that came with the boat, ive been using some Nulon red teflon grease and theres no sign of any wear at all after about 20 runs

Cool then. Sounds like a go!

I run the stock 4mm cable on 6s w/1970kv motor and a 440 prop. It's fun, loud and throws a splash! Only using two 45c 5k 3s packs though.

If you keep the two piece drive adjusted so it is snug at the prop dog, it should last a while. Adding some CA glue to the cable where it meets the hard square shaft can help prevent it from cracking as some have under load. Fills the gaps and prevents any knock around slop. Also the CA doesn't bond to the hard shaft and keeps it a two piece system.

The bigger the prop though, the more likely the stock prop shaft will crack at the square end. Not sure what prop you are using.

The ESC/Motor will have no problem doing it. I would prop down to try it first though. Again, not sure what prop you're running but if jumping up 1s in RPM, it wouldn't hurt to start smaller to make sure things are kosher.

        Hope this helps.
        =)

Ok cool, ive actually got 2 Octura props on it
          I think ones a 42mm X and the other one is a 3blade 40mm

I cant actually tell much difference in speed, the boat is a hell of a lot quieter with the 3 blade on it, no wash or anything from it!
