will a 540 L size can fit in a Micro Drifter? if so I guess I will be looking for a 100amp ESC? and either setup would require water cooling the can too?
(Brushless really scares me really want to get this right hence the simplistic questions lol)
Many thanks for your help folks :)

Depends on the 540. I have an 11S and a 14S, they work happily on 60A ESCs. The 14S is a slightly better motor on 3S, more torque (less rpm) then 11S. On your cat, the 11S would be fine I think, small can (36 x 51mm) and plenty of power. It gets my Hot Shot mono (well, a clone called hot shoot) in the 50s (kph) without troubles, cool running on a carbon 37.5mm prop.

Finally got back to my boat:
I listened to all your advice and silly me has probably made the bad decision of not listening and taking the cheap route
          so far i've got:

          BL2845 3600kv Watercooled Inrunner Motor
          100amp SP Boat ESC
          2 x 5C Charge Loong Max Tipple 3000 2S1P 20C-30C Lipo Battery (7.2v each)
Replacement 2mm Flex shaft to 4mm thread direct from H&M

so here comes the usual question:
Good or Bad decision of mine with regards to motor?
What size prop do you recommend me trying on this setup?
What speed do you recon I'll get?

          Cheers!!

            2mm flex shaft ? You've got balls !
I hope you don't break the flex on its maiden.
I'd rather have a 3,2 flex on board.

I know tell me about it! It's the hardware that was installed on the boat when I got it, was either £50+ for new hardware or see if this will do looks like the hardware installed on it was from h&m originally. Fingers crossed!!
              Any thoughts on prop?
              Cheers

                Upgraded to a 3.2mm shaft from H&M
                BL2845 3600kv Watercooled Inrunner Motor
                2 x 5C Charge Loong Max Tipple 3000 2S1P 20C-30C Lipo Battery (14.8V in total)
                1 x 100amp SP Boat ESC
                31mm 1.6 Pitch Prop

First run with this setup did not go over half throttle this is going to take a lot of getting used to! lol
Also water pickup is not working and I think i'm under propping it as motor and esc got a bit hot but that could be down to the water cooling not working !!

                Fun times ahead lol

Can you make a picture of the boat, placed on the table,
in a way that al the steps hit the table ?
So we can see the angle of the strut ................

btw : do I get it right ? You wired the batteries to 14.8 V ?
So you are running 4S1P ?!
That's too much for that motor....

Hi Gerwin Brommer, many thanks for your quick reply!! Hope these are of use!!

And yes its running 14.8v, I'm looking at just running it on 7.4v but just found out on the esc setup it does not have 7.4v option 11.1v + which is a pain, could revert back to 6 subc Cells as the esc supports this.

You could try raising the whole strut about 2 mm, and let it point a bit downwards
(higher in front, lower at the propside)

6 sub C cells is 7.2v. If your ESC can handle that, it will be just fine on a 2s lipo.

I definitely agree that 14.8 is WAY too much voltage, that's putting you at ~55k rpm unloaded on fresh packs.
Light travels faster than sound, so people may appear to be bright until you hear them speak.
