Project: H&M Micro Drifter Rebuild

Had this boat over a year now and I swear its Jinxed, got it off ebay and although it is quite fast it leaks a bit and the motor cooks!! big time! so time for a change. and would like your guys tips and advice as I want to go to brushless and my previous attempts on a Graupner Jet Sprint was fun but unreliable so this time I want to do things right.

Current Spec:
Hull: H&M Micro Drifter
Motor: Kyosho Rev Super Marine Type G (13 turn) 540 can style with built in water cooling.
ESC: Graupner Profi V80 (80A) 12v max Water Cooled
Batteries: 6 cell Enrichpower 4600mah (NI-MH)
Unknown Hardware
Prop: S36 (I think its a 36mm 1.6 pitch)

I've got a budget of £150 which I think is about $240
My aim to make a reliable stable boat capable of speeds 45mph+

Can anyone help? What motor and ESC is best? should I change the hardware? Prop etc?

is the hull 620mm? i have one which looks the same and run it on a feiago 8xl 4s1p 5000mah x642 prop and a as26-150bl the boat is atleast 45mph with no tuning or fine tweaking id say when it's fully tweaked id say 55mph - 60mph

and yes mine leaks like mad 2

Yea the leaking is a pain!! the hull dimensions are: length 470mm width 170mm so is quite a bit smaller. So wondering if I would need such a big motor as a Feiagle 8XL or would that mean the boat would go faster?

i don't know if a 8xl would fit, mine just touches the cowl as it shuts although i have the proper H&M mount which means the motor isn't directly below the 'cockpit' bubble an 8xl might be too much power

I would get a 7L or 8L Feigao running on 6 NiMHs or 2 LiPos. The smaller motor will fit fine and not overheat. I ran my MD into the low 50s on 6 cells on SAW runs, and mine never leaked. What kind of hatch tape are you using? Does the boat pass the bathtub test?

An XL in a MICRO-drifter ?????
The boat in the video looks like a Drifter-S.
You could build this boat with a setup simmilar to a 7cell mono.
My Microdrifter had a Hacker C40-6S in it, Schulze 18.149 and props 31-33mm ( Octura Andy Brown) Speed upto 113 km/h. (not funny, just for SAW)

Great cheers folks, if i stick with my Batteries: 6 cell Enrichpower 4600mah (NI-MH) and get a feigao equivalent to a Hacker C40-6S a Feigao 380-6s although they are impossible to find on internet
for me the options are:
Feigao 380 Long 6
Feigao 380 short 10
Which I can get from the UK

If I go for a 380 7S 5,916 RPM/Volt 1/8" Shaft from offshore I get hit by import tax big time!! which sucks but if needs must

Also what Amp speed controller am I looking for?

I've had crap experiences of brushless in the past of ESC smoking motors getting hotter than the sun etc lol want to get everything right.

While a 380 will work ok, I would suggest going with the 540 size can. The 540 is more efficient than the 380 and the larger mass of the 540 will allow the motor to handle heat better.
