    Need help calculating amp

    Hi guys. Will somebody help me figure out if the batttery i'm getting will have enough amp to run this boat or not. This will be a 6S setup boat.

    Boat: H&M Maritimo 37" catamaran
    Motor: Feigao 580 10L 1,326 RPM / Volt
    ESC: Seaking/Turnigy 180amp
    Prop: x646 or x445, x447
    Battery: Turnigy/Zippy 2X 3S1P 5000mAh 25C (series)

    Should i run this as series or parallel?

    You will need to run that as 6s1p. 3s will not get you the rpms you need.

      fecalc says about 100 amps on 6s with the x445 prop so your 180 should be plenty even if fecalc were off by a good margin .You should always run a lap or two and then bring in any new boat to check equipment temps.

          thanks for the info. So i take that 25C will be ok. I would like to increase to 30C in the future for larger prop?

            The ESC is not the problem - the 25C cells may be marginal in that application. While their nominal output is 125 amps, it is best practice not to exceed 80% of that - which is 100 amps. That is a pretty big boat for 2000 watts but if you stay conservative you may be just fine. I'm really just suggesting caution, not doom. The purest soution is 2P, not a cheap one, but clearly better than just upgrading to 6S1P/30C.

            Examples:
            6S1P/5000mAh/30C = 150 amps max - 120 amps at 80%
            6S2P/5000mAh/25C = 250 amps max - 200 amps at 80%

            That boat is plenty large enough for 2P.

              Thanks for the inputs. For future batt upgrade would be something like 2X 3s2p 5000mah 30C series. Wouldn't this total 6S = 300 amps max?
