I recently converted proboats Thundercat 31, but Im not satisfied with the results. Everytime I try to correct something, something else happens. My setup is 2-6s 4000mah lipos, 150 etti esc,& feiago 580. I was thinking of maybe getting another hull that can handle the power a little bit better, and one that is designed for electric, because trying to seal up all the holes that was in the boat before is a real pain,(especially the hatch) Would anyone know if the Apparition cat hull that "Head of the river" sells be a good buy for this setup? And any other suggestions would be apprieciated. Also, my motors KV is 1460, (9T) what would I have to set the PWM option to?
what hull?

a 580 in a head of the river cat is way too much.
I even doubt if it will fit.
If it fits, it'll turn the hull upside down, due to the torque from the motor.

funny you mention that gerwin, after reading this post i put my 580L in side my HR cat. it looks like a v8 big block in a mini. anything more than a 540xl is to much for these hulls

Rubbish guys, I think a 6s set up with the 580 9L is a great set up, the hull is not that big that it needs a 50mm + prop to get hooked up and a 580 9L 0n 6s 2p with a 447/3 would go very hard. With the right set up of the hull very exciting. The wheel stands from 1/2 throttle will be impressive and worth a go!!

BTW I ran a 9L today on 6s 1p in my sport 40 with the above said 447/3 and a hydra 240, Oh yeah what fun and fast, temps good and did I mention just how hard it pulls off the corners and out of the hole? It was a PM with Ozzie that got me to try it and it was well worth the effort

Ozzie.
Could you close the hatch with a 580L on top of the tunnel ??
With the motor in the right angle, and NO s-bend in the flex ?

iam not sure as i would need a larger mount to get it to fit,but if it did it would be a just fit. the main problem i see is over powering the hull. a 540xl on 4s can push them beyond there limits fairly easily, not saying it wouldnt work but there is better canidates for the 580

Sorry about the typo, Im running 2-3cell packs in series.(22.2) Would anyone know of another hull other than the mean machine to put this setup in? I really like the sport boat look but I also want something that is fast and stable. The issue I have with the mean machine is the hatch. I rather the single bubble that is low profile. What would be the limit of the hull size with this motor?

The classic hatch is much easier to tape down and make waterproof. It does have less vertical room in the back portion of the hull, but I fit two 6S/4500 packs in mine just fine.Aeromarine Sprintcat 40. 36" cat with turbine style hatch.
