The ride pad mod improves handling. It's an easy upgrade that you can do NOW that will benefit you later (and even now, some).

sweet lookin hull if i do say so myself , i notice on yours and alot of boats i see that your motor is all the way up in the nose and your stuffing box is way up there to. what im saying is on my instructions its for the graupner setup and its way back , is that going to be good or bad , or doesnt matter ? and i see the ride pads in your photo and i get that now , do you really need those or would i be ok without (reminder , im not a racer) ?

sorry for all the newbie q&a , you said you looked in a manual andy , what manual would that be ? i have these pdfs (ul1-abu-manual"820kb" and ul1-manual"296kb") one shows how to put hull together , one shows finishing hull and installing graupner system and electronics. still waiting for bats , probably after memorial day ill test run her.

I am not an expert on this boat, but I think your motor location should be fine for your setup. The main thing to keep in mind is that you want the Center of Gravity (COG) from bow to stern to be about 2" behind the rear most portion of the sponsons. You may need to add weight in front of the motor to acheive this COG, like Andy suggested to me.

By all means, ask of your questions on this site, it is the best way to get the best performance with the least amount of grief! After all, we were all newbies at one time and most of the members on this site are more than ready to help where they can.

thank you , i never would have thought about balancing the boat with everything in it. so if i balance it 2 inches behind the rear most point of the sponsons and it tips back put a dead cell or something up front of the nose ?(saw that on another thread)

The amount of weight will vary depending on how far off your COG is. So it may be more or less than one dead cell. Weight is weight so you can use what ever you want as long as it weighs the right amount and stays mounted to the hull and doesn't move around. Remember, you want to keep the weight centered left to right as well, so the boat will run flat to the water.

Also think about torque roll and maintaining the ability to move the batteries around a little so that if you use a larger prop, you can counter-balance the torque roll. It shouldn't be major, but something to keep in mind so it will run flat at speed on the water.

Thanks for the info.

Do you know offhand how much your N2 Sport Hydro weighs ready to race?
I am thinking mine was blowing over on a 10L (2458kv) on 3S1P 11.1V because it was so light (about 2.8lbs). I may be fine with 2S2P on the 6L with the added weight, but if not I can always run it with the 8L as Randy and Andy have suggested.

It looks like it may be time to add a little weight in the right places. Even with 2S2P I am looking at maybe 3.5lbs total ready to race weight.

I will have to play around with the weight a little bit to see if I can find a happy medium.

When I run the N2 Sport with a 1512 .5Y the Z-27 weighs in at 4 lb 7 OZ It may neeed a little lead we will see if I need to get up to 5Lb. It is running in the high 50ties
