Nice job! That looks like a KB45? And is that the Jollycat hardware or what brand?

I especially like the nice pink ribbons on the hatch! I definitely support it! I might have to steal that idea...
My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

yes, KB45-8L. strut is Solinger long w/bracket, rudder ??? left over from another project. made the extension out of flat aluminum. octura hardware, GrimRacer prop 40-57/3. bare jolly cat hull no motor mount.
except for the esc, LIPOs & related charging equipment, ALL was bought from Steve here @ OSE.
the LIPOs are 4S & will parallel two to the HM200 esc
the esc is encapsulated in DP270 with water-cooling plate and side water tubes.

          the radio is FM Hi-Model.

the hull was very clean with no blemishes on it. plan on buying another one soon.

well today as my son and i were getting ready to go to the lake, hooked up LIPO power to check rotation of prop so that would be one last step to check at the lake.
ruder worked great, when hit the throttle esc turned cherry red then EEEERRRTEEEERRT the inevitable famous sound.
biggest fire i've seen...and in the house. we did get the boat outside and luckily got positive lead off to stop it.
have checked the rest of equipment. all ok will be getting another esc.
am using two of these same HM200s with no problem.

Just a note. I encapsulated my HM200A in DP270 and the ESC lasted for about 30secs with the boat in the water. I will never encapsulated again and using other ways.

Go over your parallel connection configuration again! One wire wrong can cause havoc!

Robby, I like your tribute poster to the now past tense Bud Light offshore cat!

I start believing you must be quite lucky with the HM200A. Some work very well, some don't and they just burn.

i agree. have two others that perform excellent with one being encapsulated. i think it was a quality control issue. i bought this 6 months ago and has been shelfed until finished with project.

i don't find any arcing on water plate which was blown off.

also, glade for the 12 coats of clear on hull.
next project, esc will be the last item to purchase a week after it is complete.

                      enjoy the pics here.

i really thought i was going to burn down my house.

Ewww, hope your house doesn't have that burned ESC smell.

                            thanks.
house and garage have that ESC smell. mrs wants to call in "Service Masters" !
i'm like...i need that $money$ for another ESC.

The only different thing i did here is I added an extra positive lead with a 47 ohm resistor to minimize the in rush voltage charging the caps. might have inteferred with the default settings.

since the KB motors are physicaly large and not having a programing card using the default settings, motor timing could have contributed to this failure.
the other two HM200s are on Feigao motors.

"WARNING: For some large motors, you must use High timing mode. Failure to do so will result in a burnt esc."
