I crank the top screw like it owes me money and then tighten the brass the best I can. That breakaway isn't just for my protection. I really think that if I locked it in and hit someone I would just cut them in half. My boat would survive but the carnage of an error........yuck. I hate totaling peoples gear.

Jay, are you still running the narrow version? I used to call it the Stealth. That boat is so narrow the transom may never break.

Understood, I also use a black oxide bolt instead of SS since SS can stretch under load.

I just received a pack of 3mm brass socket head bolts. I like them much better than a slot brass screw.

Now, I'm going to put a center block on the inside of my transom with goue and some #6 wood screws.

I ran into a problem with my Speck Pearl.
The batteries that I started using last year, no longer fit with the Castle Mamba Monster X8s ESC.
Seeing that it is 53mm wide (just over 2 1/16")
So I bought a Castel Mamba Monster X6s, It is 48mm (just over 1 7/8" )

I had to cut down a Stump cooler from a X8s ESC.
Put a pair of 6mm water inlets in it.
Glued it into place with Thermal Epoxy (non conductive).

Ty's specky is a V10.8. Even narrower. Ran the old style hydra until it puked. Went to the 8s and spotted the esc on top of the cells. Worked just right with our bubble canopy.

It looks like the ABS canopy needs to be shortened a little. Have others also noticed this?

Well, I took a long hiatus, but I'm back to building. Making some progress on my Q. The day Terry introduced me to binder clips.....game changer!

Also, CONGRATS to Don in Georgia. Another BLACK PEARL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!! I believe that is 6 total now!
