finaly getting some work done to my twin cat, have glued in motor mounts and stuffer tube hopefully will get them glassed in over the next couple of days. sorry about picture qaulity as they are of my phone.

Hi Scott.
At least you're getting something done. I've stalled on a couple of projects. Just can't seem to find the energy to work on them. But hey, life is full of cycles. Big ones & small ones. Hopefully this is part of a small one.
Trevor, from our club, was kind enough to take a video of the cat doing a few laps today at Boondall.

What is your current decision on power and props for the twin version of this hull. I have been up and down this thread but can not see it.
You know I am looking at the idea of a twin, and the shape will be a little similar to this hull

hi simon. iam still tossing up motors between ammo 2300s or 2600s on 4s props will be detounged x442s. the reason for the ammos is i run one in my mono and is a real good motor and amp draw isnt real high.

These Ammo motors translate in size to a Feigao S or L can.
How does the power and or effeciency of the Ammo motor compare to the Feigao.
I'll be watching this one closely.

This has so many opportunities to go well off-topic. I hope that it does not.

Can I assume that you have used the Fiegao motors too and draw your comparison from that experience.
I am happy to use Ammo, Fiegao, or Chinese L-size motors. I am curious as to why the Ammo is so highly regarded.
I know that the Lehner, Hacker, and Neu motors are very good, but well out of my price range for an experimental twin build.

I am keen to see how this twin cat pans out, and really want to see some good results as I will be basing my design/build on this one.

yes i have both fiego and ammo motors and think the ammo is a better motor than the L or S fiego but that is just my 2c, i use a fiego 7xl in my other 32" cat
i hope you are not in a hurry to see it finished as it may take 2-3 months before it is finished as you would be aware the dollar isnt real good at the moment so has slowed me down

well had a big day at the pond ran the mono with the new lighter battery setup and all was good there. put the cat in the water trying it with a pranther 215 prop and it was like a wild animal dancing on the sponsons,flipped it twice and it was okay but third time not so lucky it landed the rite way up but the lid come of and sunk (no flotation ) the hull got a gob full of water and half sunk with the front pointing sky ward lucky my mate was there with his rescue boat and got it back in. i spent an hour in the water searching for the lid, i had to call it quits as it was getting dark and happen to find the lid as i was walking back in to the shore

Sounds like you had a great day... Was that your twin cat sinking or which one? What was damaged or nearly everything?

Lucky save on the hatch Scott.
But as lomdel asks, how did everything else handle the dunking?
You're the second person who's lost a hatch on one of these that I've read about lately. Note to self "glue foam to hatch before next weekend". Just in case.
What angle & depth do you have the strut set at.
As a comparison, the angle on mine is set almost level with the sponsons( just a bees dick lower at the prop end) & the botom of the strut is about 1mm below the level of the sponsons.

the speedie died, had it conformal coated and the ends sealed but water found its way in. everything else seems okay. strut was level with the sponsons, i think with the prop i was running i needed the c.o.g a bit further forward. i have been thinking of going to a 8xl just to tame it down a bit and stick the 7xl in the black jack s.a.w type boat iam doing, but its so much fun to drive you have to slowly squeese the power on and when its at top speed its only just touching the water, the motor mount came away on one side as well so its time to do a few things to this hull before it goes back in the water going to carbon fibre the inside of the hull give it some more strength

Let me know when you're coming up & I'll have a couple of rolls of hocky tape for you. It's the only thing to keep the hatches on in a tumble. Or is that what you were using?
Well I've got a day off today & the humidity is low so I'm finally going to glass the WWI Coastal Motor Boat that I've been building. We're having a Navy day at the club on May 2 & I've promised myself that it WILL be ready.

hi paul, yea i was using hockey tape but it hit rather hard on landing. luckly it was only doing about 40mph when it flipped, its when i was excelerating that it flipped, when its at full speed it seems a lot easier to control even tho i had it running fairly loose.
any way got some more work done to the twin motor cat over the weekend by adding some carbon fibre, it was the first time i have used carbon fibre and havent had much experiance fiber glassing so i dont think it came up to bad,
the new rudder and water pickups turned up today so will put them on during the week
