The slight mis-alignment of the cases and newness of the male plugs make it difficult at first. The dielectric grease just helped alignment and if some got on the connector surface I will clean with Isopropyl Alcohol before use. It's best to avoid decreasing plug tightness with pliers since it could cause more problems than it fixes. If it's working for you that's great!

The male plugs are adjustable. If you make them to small you can increase the size with an awl. You set them up for a snug fit, but one you can plug and unplug by hand.

Not if you need a pair of pliers to connect them.............. you should be able to use you hands to plug in and separate them. Have you ever tried adjusting the splines if you think you made them too loose you just separate them again with a small Phillip's screwdriver

My 1st thought is you don't have the connectors seated in the green housing properly carefully seat them with a flat punch or a 1/4" round dowel if you finesse them in & out it works better I use a round tip bondus allen wrench to spread the 6.5 males

Actually the silicone dielectric grease worked well. After plugging them in and out a few times it's far better than how it started. No need to adjust the plugs with pliers.
