I'm changing motors in a 32" Pursuit . I'm going to have to cut out the old mount and install a new one. I'm going from a old 38mm Feigao 540 XL to a Leopard 4082. I need to move the mount backwards to accommodate the Leopard and cooling jacket. Any suggestions on installing and aligning the new mount. I have never installed one before. Thank You for any suggestions.

You don't need to remove the mount. Just add a set of brackets & a 40mm tail ring. The 40mm motor bolts onto the existing mount.
Here's the tailring & mounts.

Just epoxy & fiberglass it in.
I like to add a bit of 1/4" carbon rod along side the mount & tailring bracket. The longer the better to stiffen up the hull & strengthen the mount.
Here's something similar except I made the brackets from a bit of aluminium sheet.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

I am running a TP 4050 in my pursuit which is 82mm long but am using the original mounts. You have to stick with a short (50mm) cooling jacket, but just use a 40mm rear ring. But if you have a longer jacket, just go with Pauls' suggestion.NZMPBA 2013, 2016 Open Electric Champion. NZMPBA 2016 P Offshore Champion.

What Pete says is true.
And a much easier solution. A 50mm jacket & a 40mm tail ring. Job done.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!
