Hello, everyone!

This is the latest version of our v-cat model. The idea was to create a mono boat with catamaran characteristics to have the best of both worlds, basically.

After a lot of trial and error we have completely re-designed the bottom and it is now a full-on catamaran styled shape.

To be honest, I have no idea, I just received it yesterday and couldn't wait to post it. At this point, I know as much as you do about this boat just by looking at it. Design-wise, it's no different than any cat as it's got two sharp keels and not much else. So it should function the same, theoretically. I have another one like this that I've been building, but with slightly less depth, and it's almost ready for running. The next hull is already in the making with very minor visual changes. I'll keep the thread updated with my progress.

I'm concerned about getting enough air packed under the tunnel so as to prevent suction.
Very curious to see this novel design in action!

A hull design similar to this was marketed as a 'glass hull 15-20 years ago by Bandit Boats called the "Bat Boat". It was kind of a canard, I had a bare hull. No idea how it ran as I never built it.

I can't find a pic of mine - long gone by now. JV might have it. It was 'similar' to the OP's except the vee portion was cut away about half way back forming a step and leaving a flat tunnel floor aft. The tunnel started about where the front 'step' ended. Not quite but close to this:

This is closer to our previous vcat design (the red boat) which was not very functional. This new one is essentially a catamaran with a fin in the bow/center, not a true v nose anymore. There is a lot of depth underneath, but the wood grain really hides that. We'll see how it works on water once built.

I am also building this one in parallel with the other boat. It's essentially identical, but a tad less depth on the bottom.

Made some progress on the boat. I didn't want to use the generic servo mount so decided to just make one from scratch. I cut the cf bits out of my old sheet; the aluminum rods were cut from a rod I got at Lowe's. Also tried vacuum bagging for the first time in attempt to make some motor mounts that are simpler/stronger. Learned a lot of lessons in the process, and the result came out pretty good. Almost ready for its maiden run, just a few bits to finalize such as the stuffing tubes, etc. This is the hull that I posted later on in this thread. I have not made much progress on the other (initial post) one as there were a few time-consuming issues to fix (making lipos fit, etc). This hull is much shallower at the bottom area than the other one, so I hope it still runs ok and doesn't hop. Regardless, I will post about it, good or bad.
