I don't think so Shawn. As far as I've been told by one of the Rep's, it's no more conductive than Carbon Fiber. I thought about that myself but I figured I was using a highly conductive material to begin with so what the heck!

Got a few minor things done. Been super busy so it's a slow process. Wish I had more time on my hands but money is money. I finished filling in some of the cuts incured from removing the original 5 inch rails. I also filled in some of the ribs to make the bottom smooth.

      GEDC0048.jpg

I filled in all of the holes in the transom from the boats previous lives as a gas powered and large (TP 100) electric powered hull. I wanted to start off fresh. I'm using Marine Tex and it's working out great. It's extremely hard yet very lightweight. I'm using a small Black and Decker palm sander with 80 grit paper and it eats it up pretty fast. Note: If you apply a slightly thicker coat than desired, it cures faster.

      GEDC0049.jpg

I've also decided to reinforce the sides of the hull with Carbon/Kevlar. There will be quite a bit of weight in here and the weakest point will be along the sides of the hull at the hatch opening. So both sides got a 5 inch wide piece. I'll be going over it with some stRonger C/F cloth for some added strength along the beam.

Got to do a few more things this weekend. The Carbon/Kevlar has cured so it's time for the harder part. I laid out the reinforcement over the outside bottom of the hull. I'm using a test material this time and I have plenty of it. It's 4 harness satin 6k, 205gsm Hexicel IM7 in 6oz tow size. Its Aerospace grade and extremely strong yet extremely lightweight. I used painters tape to hold in place as it removes easily.

          GEDC0071.jpg

A little more Marine Tex on the outside transom to finish filling the holes from prior builds. She'll be getting a makeover in paint of the same color when the inlay and hardware are in place.

          GEDC0072.jpg

Here the rest of the roll of Carbon for some future builds. I went to the fridge to get a drink and from the looks of things, the inspectors did their jobs to see if I did it right. Notice the footprints! :)

After trimming with the taped edges. I have some smaller pieces to finish the bow after this cures. She should be close to "bulletproof" up front as I can get it.

            GEDC0076.jpg

Here's a view from the side with the tape peeled off.

I bought these shears from Amazon. Couldn't have done without them. They cut this heavy grade material like butter. They're made by Kretzer, model 72920. 8" inches long and will cut up tp 20cm of Aramid/Composite/Kevlar.

              GEDC0081.jpg

Laid out on the floor. Pretty close after doing it by eye.

              GEDC0083.jpg

Back in the hull to test fit....

              GEDC0084.jpg

Under the front of the deck and the bow. Could use a few more pieces but I'll do that with the 2" Carbon strip I have.

              GEDC0086.jpg

              Just about ready for Epoxy...

I picked up a few nylon bristle brushes to try and remove any air pockets.

                GEDC0088.jpg

After spreading around about 8 ozs. of Epoxy.

All the way up to the bow. I'll be piecing it in up here just to be safe if she hits hard up front.

I remember when you bought this hull. Still kicking myself for not jumping on it when it was listed for sale. Awesome looking hull. Going to look killer with that hardware hanging off the back.

I've had it for some time now. Just been overwhelmed with work and time has been so limited I just put it on the back-burner. I still can't believe I was able to get this! It must not have been posted for very long and I was just in the right place/right time. I was looking for a bigger v-hull and this was right up the alley!

I'm trying my hardest to get this done soon! Summers a pretty short up here and with the exception of a few storms, the weather has been great. If I can get the inlay done this week, hardware should be pretty quick to install as most of it is assemblies. The 46" should be a nice hull to work with and maybe a little easier to haul around. This 59" takes up quite a bit of room in the Equinox!

                            Oh yeah! I have a slight alignment problem between the motors and the drive unit so I was thinking about using a pair of these;

                            arrowshark drive.JPG

I'm still undecided though. I may just get a-hold of Herve at mini-meca (thats who made the mount for me) and give him the dimensions
and revise the center section of the mount to match the holes in the drives. Otherwise I'll have to put a bend or two in the flex tubes.

The motor shaft/drive line alignment issue has been rectified. I had Herve at mini-meca redesign the motor mount with the exact dimensions of the drive unit and now it is a perfect fit. I've had to put the hull up for sale due to financial reasons. If she doesn't sell, and I'm able to get a hold of our finances, I'll resume the build later this year. On hold and for sale for now.....
