In the shop tonight working on a couple builds. Decided to to a couple things to the mono while I wait on my parts. Just to rule out weight balance, I made a removable weight stick. It weighs 4.2oz with the four weights and the carbon plate they are stuck to. The difference in battery weights is 4.5oz so it should be close enough.

Travis, I shouldn't be saying anything, but my memory tells me that the leading edge angle to the bottom has to remain 90*, or it will have some lifting effects. I sharpen my bottom of the rudder just like what you have done. I think it was Grim Racer who wrote that. But his exact word was " radius"
I could have understood wrongly.....
I was contemplating that bottom edge the other night when I trimmed mine down Travis. That is a good take on it. I have a straight rudder and a tapered for the R-42 to experiment with. It is good to experiment for baselines.

I would figure if it was flat on the bottom it would have some lifting effects...no?

Yes, that is what I think, you didn't do anything wrong, the wedge shaped sharpening job is awesome. I only aired out my opinion because I thought if there was some ''rounding off'' of the front angle....
It was more of a question for my own knowledge as I had a bit of trouble picturing what was referred by Grim Racer in his response to someone ages ago....
I would think if the bottom wasn't sharpened , diagram #2 and #3 would have lifting effects as it serves like a "ramp". Scan0003.jpg

IMO the best would be like the middle one except the oposite, leave the leading edge longer. That way you know for sure there's no lift.
My parts came in. I've realized that the trim tabs I had on there were probably more suited to about a 26" hull (they look right at home on my 26" shockwave). I added turn fins also. I want to go run it this weekend but it's supposed to rain the whole time. I'll see, if I get a chance I will.
I made two different mounting spots. One to the inside and one further out. I'm trying further in first. Looks like they are going to get in the way of water flow to the prop. Who knows.

Here's the turn fins. Also notice that I onlt drilled one extra hole on each side for the trims. They are plugged with screws. Of course once I get this thing lined out, extra holes will be filled, boat disassembled and then a nice paint job on it. I'm not painting it until I hit my speed goal as some things may need to be changed again. ****btw...if you see something I'm doing wrong, im ok if you point it out, this is still a learning process for me****
