Great job I have one that needs a cockpit/hatch cover. I need to get started on it soon!

Ken-NJ made his own hatch which is how I got this one. He built his as the KAAMA Racing team boat. It’s on here in build threads just search his name and you can get an idea of how to build your own. Finding a replacement factory one will be next to impossible.Originally posted by Mike W View PostGreat job I have one that needs a cockpit/hatch cover. I need to get started on it soon!

So it got in the water today
Well mechanically speaking it went well. No water in hull, everything cool, was capable of great speed, BUT.....
As soon as good speed hit it was hoping all over.
Then I remembered that I epoxied an edge to the rear of the hull.

This hull trailing edge was real round and of course a sharp edge is wanted. I had left that to cure real good so I could sand it. A month should be enough. lol.
And upon sanding and grabbing a straight edge for it I discovered terrible concave in the bottom that made it up to 1/8” about 3” ahead of my epoxy work. SOOOO, more work to do and there goes the pretty bottom paint! Anyone say Speedcote?

Cheers Buddy!
She looks pretty in the water.
I feel for ya, I had once a terrible experience with a Insane Mono boat, but after I trued the bottom, I loved the hull, of course mine didn't have the pretty paint.Too many boats, not enough time...

Yeah I hear you. I got this from the owner of probably the biggest R/C shop in the province, but it doesn’t mean they knew what to do before paint. But at least I didn’t pay for that paint. I got the hull for $150. It’s just gonna have to have a black bottom.
What did you use to true the Insane? I did my Pursuit with glazing putty but it is showing after a couple years(little cracks).

Amazing build thread! You started this in 2015?! Congrats on getting it wet!
I love the paint scheme, so interesting how the black & white checkoring is woven thru out, from front to back and down the sides.
Beautiful job on the cockpit too...
May I ask how fast you expect to get from this setup, and run time? What motor and battery setup did you end up with?
