    MMP Watersnake build

    Hello everyone,

As winter project I am building a watersnake of mmp, 1.36m long or 53,5'.
Power source will be the following:

    2x TP4070 1170kv with MBP 70mm cooling jackets
    2x200A 8s hifei Esc with Etti 63V 5000uF caps
    Lipo's? I don't know yet, I have 8000mAh 30C 4s lipo'
    here for 8000mAh 30C 8s / motor. As an alternative I can
    also use 45C 5000mAh zippy lipo's for 5000mAh 45C 8s / motor
or 10.000mAh 45C 8s / motor. I will see which works best when I am measuring the
    amps.
Props: I will start with a pair of x447 octura's but I also have a pair
    x450/3 octura's, x457 octura's and MBP 55mm props.

    Some pictures:

I have reinforced the hull with 4 layers of carbonfiber. At the moment the hull is really bullet proof. Weight
of the hull without motors and hardware is 4.3kg. Not the lightest hull but definitely one of the toughest I
have ever seen. The hull is really hard all over.

Some pictures of the current state of the hull:

The struts are from MTC rest of the hardware comes from HOR. I have chosen for struts instead of stingers because the props will come lower with struts than with stingers. A common problem with twin mono's is the prop height. If the props are mounted too high they don't get enough water which is nog very efficient. I have mounted my struts as low as possible and also as close together as possible. There is a space of 60mm between the center of the props. Just fine to spine x457 or 55mm MBP props.

I still need to make some motorrails and a motormount. This will be the next thing to do :)

    Regards,
    Roy

This is gonna be a awsome build, looks like it's gonna be one of the most efficient twin motor mono set ups I've seen. Can't wait to see it run!! Those are fairly big motors but they look small in that hull!

With the rudder it is almost 1.6m long (63'). Fairly difficult to transport :) But it looks really nice, one of the most beautiful mono's
on the market today in my opinion.

I am not aiming for top speeds with this boat. Just some nice sport running. I hope to end around 100-110km so like 60-70mph.
I think that's a reasonable speed for this boat and fairly achievable with this setup. Because I chose for 40mm diameter motors
the curve of the flexshaft will be very limited so I can put the motors far in the back of the boat with the lipo's in front of it. I hope
those 4070 are up to the task. 7,5kW continuous power and 15kW burst isn't the most powerful setup you can get. 2x TP5850 would
give me almost twice the power. We will see how she runs after the winter break :)

Thanks for your nice words !

Do they make a smaller version of this hull?

MMP also makes the titus hull 1.26m long and also the rapid 1m long. Both are
nice boats to build as a twin. The twin rapids are running really well :)

Little update on this one. I made some wooden parts out of 5mm triplex and put some black fiberglass on it. 3 layers on both sides for the rails/motorplate/servoplate/lipo-plate. For the esc plates I have only done 1 side. On the the underside of this plates I have glued a little piece
of 5mm triplex. This way the esc plate is slightly higher so I can put a strap under it to keep the esc's in place.

                  Some pictures:

The setup changed a little bit. I will give the TP4070's another home, the snake will get 2x 4035 800kv hyperions. I will start with 10s but
I hope I can use them on 12s as well with a smaller prop.

Next, I mounted the motors onto the motorplate:

                    The construction looks like this:

                    And inside the hull:

I need to do some gluing next and some other small things but she is almost finished!

I like that hull a lot! Looking forward to see it run!
Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

In a couple of weeks she should see the water for the first time :)

Should run pretty good on those Hyperion outrunners especially if you put it on 12s!

On 12s it will definitely be fast. I am not quiet sure how much to expect from the 4035 hyperions. I will start on 10s and work my way up. At the moment I am looking for esc's. A swordfish 240A is around the price of a 400A 16s flier esc. The flier esc is the better esc (I have already one and I it is the best esc I ever had) but also quiet big. Don't really know which one to chose right know.

Almost finished, just ordered 2x 400A 16s flier esc's. Very happy with this esc in my 45' Buster mono so I think they will be good for the snake too!
