OK cool, I thought about doing that but never got one to do it. But great idea none the less, I may do it on a future boat. Somebody needs to make a Butch Block for 7/32 tube, 3/16 flex I bet they'd sell!

I Finally got to run it!!

Here's a couple videos of the maiden voyage of my GP400, all I can say is Mike builds a awsome boat and I did a pretty fair job of rigging it. It ran very well for the first time out I'm very pleased with how nice it ran. Started with a X450/2 prop in the first video then dropped the strut a little and put on a Prather 240 (54mm 1.6 pitch) for the second video. Here's the first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o01jbuI3HE second coming up!

              Second Video!

I think I hit something (Turtle) at the very begining.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12i0GrTWlqM Even with the 54mm prop motor temp was 87deg. and ESC caps were 114deg. but water was pretty cool, I'm guessing around 60deg. or so.

Chris, I just watched BOTH videos, awesome! Was going to ask you which prop you used in your first run, you answered my questions!
A hearty congrats to you for a fabulous build and an outstanding maiden.
                Cheers.
                Happy Holidays, my friend!

What motor, esc, and lipo setup. We can get that thing faster! Let me know. Mike

PS, looks good for the first runs!

Yes Mike I was going to holler at you, It's got a TP4070 1770kv, MGM 280-36 Lite Series ESC, Prather 240 prop (54mm 1.6 pitch) on 6s. What do I need to do to get rid of that little bit of sponson hop?

Personally, I do not like that prop choice. 1.6pitch props I do not like on the GP series hulls, it forces the tail to drag, unless you lower the strut a bunch more. With the way it was riding, I suspect your sponson AoA was around 5-6 degrees, which will slow the boat down on that calm water for sure. You are running a really high KV motor for 6s. I was running 1500kv, 1527 Neu, with an X455 and X457 prop, detongued, tip cupped, thinned, balanced, and sharpened....With that being said, since you are running a high KV, I would try and X452, then try the X455 depending on temps. I just do not like a prather prop, I think its just a flat running prop and kills RPM. I have never really had much luck with them on any hull I have run, lol. Give those other prop choices a try, I think you will like the results. The sponson hop is prop related for sure. Also, when you give those props a try, set the strut around neutral angle, and put it 1/8" deeper than the sponson depth with the X455, and 3/16" deeper with the X452. Let me know how it goes, Mike

Good deal, I'll deffinetly give that a shot. One of the guys in the club was saying put a 3 blade x448 on it, what do you think about that? BTW I already love this boat, I've never had a Hydro that ran this good right out of the box!!

Chris, well done brother !... That fin looks bigger than the Va Craftsman I had on my GP400, but it could just be the pic, If I still had mine I could compare it for ya. Darryl has one I sent him for his GP400... DJ
