quick vac u pickle build

I picked up a vac u pickle the other day for my 10 year old son. I've been promising him a boat and I keep putting him off and I figured I need to get him taken care of now because if I dont....I'll keep putting him off. These boats don't take long to build at all. I think i Have maybe two hours in it.

I'm waiting on a servo.

Here's my plans

Savox micro waterproof servo
I have two motors. A neu 1410 2000kv and a castle 1415 2400kv
I have 3s and 4s revolectrix packs to run in it
Spectrum receiver
Carbon battery tray
For now a water cooled mamba monster 2 esc
3/16 flex

Starting out.....mounting hardware. This was actually a set back type strut mount but I cut it down to fit. It's what I had. Out of my pocket I think i have $30 in this boat lol. It's gonna be something fun for my son to knock around with....

Thanks. When I get home I'm putting the flex in. You think the 1415 would be better than the neu 1410?

I'm running my pickle on a turnigy 2050kv , aquacraft 60amp esc , octura x442 on 4s and it flies.
I cant stay on full throttle or it blows over. its a fun boat to run.

How do you guys hold the hatch on? Please don't say tape.....lol

the front hold down is 2 pieces of plastistrut angle epoxied together.
the back 2 are 6-32 aluminum parts I got at the hardware store.

not a lot of room for a esc in this hull. the AQ 60 fits great.
I've got a seaking v2 90 amp coming for it.

Use tape, and save that epoxy you're using to waterproof receivers for building boats.

Thanks for the pics! I was thinking about something very similar to that.

I fo need an esc for it. All I have now is a mm2 for it that I will have to build a cooling block for.....so a SeaKing 90 huh......

no I haven't , I kind of enjoy the thrill when it starts to lift....lol
I'm getting pretty good at letting of the throttle before she goes all the way over.

Travis, try the 1415 on 3S first. Since its for the kids, and they are speed hounds like "DAD" It needs to be fast enough to keep them interested, but not so fast its constantly blowing over.
Doug, when you say airdam, do you mean like we did on the UL-1 hulls. I got to get my Vac-u-pick in the water too.... DJ

Hahaha I have plenty of it! It only takes 8 grams to do a receiver any way! :)

Here you go fellas. My guess is that Travis will use something other than Hockey tape. It's not impossible to blow the boat off with the dam, but it does help a bunch.
Try it approx.3" back in the tunnel.

Mr. Smock, I thought the air dam is supposed to block the entire width of the tunnel, I am sure there is a good reason for a 'partial' air dam like the one posted in your picture, would love to learn more.
