I Should have it done in a couple weeks or sooner. No those are some VTX CnC props I bought a while back just to see how thier props work. Yes the back cut is worth doing, I've done it on some of the props I've done..

looking awsome cant wait to see her run. i had a question about the scale rudder you are using i have the same one for a fantasm i am redoing. do you have to put a bracket on the inside of the hull to hold the sheathing of the cables in place with that or will it work with just the wires to the servo?

On mine I'm going to epoxy the cable housings on the inside and run them up to the steering servo and make some kind of mount for them. The way you would normally run a cable that accuates a moving part, I haven't figured out exactly how I'm gonna do it yet. I'll post pics as soon as I do

In my experience its not necessary to use any sort of housing. Drilling a very small hole that barely allows the cable to pass through it, then just connect to the steering servo. Setup used on my mhz hulls.

If this isn't enough drill the hole slightly bigger and run a small length of antenna tube or similar sized teflon in then slide cables in. With this setup you will have flawless, accurate steering action that will survive any crash you throw at it. I was a bike mechanic for years and a cheap housing will flex too much.

Don't try to reinvent the wheel ...... simple is better......there is a ton of high end builds here that will show in detail what works best. From experience what mike is refering to is what woks best. Shifter cable teflon off a mountain bike works awesome for doing this. if by any chance you need pictures I can send them to if you would like just let me know. so far to build looks great one day I will probably add one to my fleet.

^^ What Chris said. The pull pull steering setups can either be a nightmare to setup or very, very simple and strong. I was hung up on this step forever when building a super daytona a few years ago.

here is what im geting at.servo conection.jpg .thats what came in my fantasm with the wire sleeves epoxied to it.im removing all the wood and replacing with carbon fiber. i just want to make sure i need that there to hold the wires?i dont really get the point of it since the servo pulls the rudder both directions and does not push. im definantly considering iridebikes idea but since the holes are already drilled threw the hull to fit the sleeve threw i would rather have a tight fit so i get no leaks incase of a flip.thanks again for the help.

when it comes to cables nothing works better for security and fineness of steering input than a tightly drawn cable.

I didn't post a link to a particular boat, would take a pic of mine but the steering servo is out so it doesn't look very good. Anyway these are all hardcore hpr builders. To each our own but down the road this ensures a trouble free low maintenance setup.

out of all the ones i looked at i only saw 1 that had something like that in there so maybe i wont have to put anything in there after all.alot of them ran more of a rod like a push pull system rather then a wires.

I built a dozen boats using cable steering and not once used anything to guide the cables....However solid linkage used a push pull setup works awesome as well. I have used both methods and both work well. You typically get a more responsive steering when using solid linkage.

I'm not 100% sure I understand what is being discussed here, but I think it's guided cable with mounts vs. bare cable?

I've done both, and a few other variations. They all work and serve the same purpose, but there are some differences. The biggest difference is that with mounted cable guides, you don't have to take a straight shot from the transom to the servo. This will allow you to make a lower drag setup on some cats where the angle from hydraulic arm to servo is too sharp. Mounting the cable guides also lowers the amount of "slop" in the steering as well.
