Here are a few pics of the KBB rudder, so you can get an idea of the size:

The rudder you put on it is suited for a much larger hull though. It would be more at home on a 60" cat, or possibly even a bit larger. I would definitely cut it down and also reduce the width of the rudder blade. Since you were able to make the mount adapter you used, perhaps you can machine a custom rudder blade that tapers down to a more appropriate size.
The rudders and drives that I have for these are perfect and I know the hull handles great with them. If you want some measurements of the rudder blade I will be happy to forward them to you.
        Yes please do that...

Thanx Travis, I thought it turned out pretty good for cutting and grinding it all by hand.

              Any updates?

By the way, our rudder blades taper from about 20mm at the bottom to 25mm toward the top. Total length of the rudder from the top of the standoff to the bottom of the blade is about 115mm. Hope that helps.

As a matter of fact I do!

I got the motor mounts done and they work with the Psyclone 4474s and the TP 4070s. the Psyclone 4474s are in them now, with the TP 4070s the tail brace goes around the cooling can. Here's some pics! DSC02643.jpgDSC02644.jpgDSC02652.jpgDSC02647.jpgDSC02648.jpg

I feel like I'm in a different time with the Scarab I'm building compared to what you guys are doing. Nice job. I'm following along hoping to learn here.

Maybe so Ken, but that Scarab is just going to be so cool! It's got me wanting to do a "Old Skool" boat pretty soon. BTW THANX!

Looking good. Do you plan on running carbon cloth right over the top of that aluminum bottom piece or just gluing the bottom?
I finally took some vid of this hull running the other day. Have you seen it yet?

Thanx Keith, I planned on drilling a pattern of holes in the aluminum and epoxying the bottom with my special Epoxy/Ground Carbon Fiber mix. I've yet to have anything come apart with this mixture. And no I have not seen the video, where's the link?

                              A little more progress!

I got the simulated Hyd. Rudder and the Stingers mounted. The Stingers are the TFL Fantasm Stingers, they are not direct bolt on for this hull. If you use them you will have to mill the adjuster pads down just past the set screw holes then redrill and tap the set screw holes. Other than that they work fine.
