If you grease them after every time out, you'll never have a problem. Lots of us don't use liners, you have to use the proper size tubing too. And I also use a long bushing in the top end too.

I be one of them. I think I only have one boat left running liners.

I have tried this bushing up top but used aluminum which was a tragic fail.

I use these at the top, if you have a bend close to the top you just trim a little off. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...=ros-spdsd-187 They fit perfect in 1/4" OD tube.

hmm interesting. I have to say that I'm a big fan of good quality liner, I use the very thick stuff. I also wrap my stuffing tubes in all sort of decor, and for that reason I just want to be safe and not having to replace the tube down the track because it grinded for some reason. I just feel a little safer, as most my setups run in the 40k+ rpm range. I see the liner as a bearing or "consumable", and it can tolerate a lot of heat also before it melts. Its just easier to replace if need be. But of cause, we can all do what we feel best doing :). That said, i'm not against not using it, but I would never run without.

Yeah i dont run liners in my 115 and shes run low to mid 70 s dozens of times w no signs of wear at all. As long as your aligned properly and keep it well greased its all good. I was very sceptical the first mono i built like that but talked to quite a few racers at the 2011 NATS and a lot of them agreed. Ditch the liners. I think theyre great if u want minimal maintenance or plan to go bash your rtr all day at a pond. But ill be wipin this down with a diaper each time it comes in so maintenance is no big deal.

I guess we all have our ways, and since I've never run without I can't really make a statement other than what I've tried. Maybe one day I'll have a go and see if if makes a difference, but for now I'll stick with it :) Anyway this is your thread Scott, so get that thing done will ya... LOL

No Chris. Ill be short a few parts still. This is by no means a rush build When the parts in the boat to hold parts cost more than any RTR on the market, you tend to work on it veeery slooowly LOL

EDIT And it will never see Ackerman on a race day.

Other than staring at it a couple times since Ive been home, no more progress tonight. I did get the other motor mount prepped and the stuffing tube cleaned up and ready to go in before heading out to dinner. I hope to get the other side in and tacked in the am before i head off to do some work. More pics as progress is made.
