You're right an hpr 135 is not a cheap boat, and a 73 is a completely different animal. The differences will be even more obvious in a crash and thats the point I should have made more clear. I have crashed 80mph 40" cats and also crashed 25" 54" cats, I can only extrapolate and imagine the forces are just tremendous when a huge 70" boat crashes. I prefer to keep my pockets deeper when building big boats as the demands placed on the hull increase with each inch and pound added. If you can say with certainty the 3080s won't do it I'm curious then what you think will. A guy on the modelbaupirate forum got 161 km/h with twin leopard 5692 1090s on 10s with 2 swordfish 240s. You're right though the mystic is a different animal and I should have remembered this is a cheap hull compared to a c/k mystic. I'd like to think those motors in a mystic or hpr would do the trick, there is no guarantee but I can say most of us would turn to lehner if we wanted a big boat to make big numbers.

As you said no boat has gone this fast in this size range. Something tells me this project will never come to fruition anyway. I don't think the op even asked for motor advice I just started playing number games in the thread lol. Of course I know you're not trying to be an a$$ didn't take it that way, I should have recognized its a CRC hull and took that into consideration more and not just looked at the math.

I agree, Lehner is going to be the best option for high RPM setups.

Talking about FireBall, here is MUDL running his MHZ 240E on cheaper components (2xTP-5850-1000 - 2xMBP/Flier 14-300), if I'm not mistaken he is getting some where close, or over 90mph (I could be dreaming "90's"? lol but I think 140+ km/h) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U76JhjZROU so in a 72" ish setup, high speeds should be possible. I wouldn't waste my time with a CRC hull though, few $$$ more and you can get a hull that is quite capable, and less likely to fail. One could argue that, but as always in life, there is always time and finance to do it again (point is, do it right the first time) Myself would only get what I can fit IN the car LOL but would love to one day build a 70"+

That's the problem I had with mine. I COULD get it in the car, but it involved a specific seat/door/order of operations protocol. It really was a pain in the butt just to get it in and out and set up. For someone that has the proper vehicle to transport a big boat, it would be a lot easier.

It was difficult for me to transport in a car, and not legal for competition (60" Max)

Thanks for that. I didn't know about the 60" part. I'm a truck guy so that isn't a problem for me. I'm the only boat person I know here in Washington State so competition isn't in the works for me. I live in one of the fishing capitols in the world! So it's bass and walleye boats here in Grand Coulee(no rc). I do go to some of the boat races here but none are rc. My Zonda draws a crowed, and I'm hoping that it will draw out people that have rc's. Time will tell.

I hope so. I'm just shopping for the winter as I still need to finish my first build. I get carried away with builds some times. I have about 6 scale 4x4 builds that still need to be finished. I move around with builds a lot. And that is the reason people think of me as a bench tester. I am a bench tester. I have a hard time finishing my builds.
I will finish the first boat build soon.

Getting a boat to fit isn't a problem for me. I own on of the rarest trucks ever made. A Terra, and it's one of the first 100 ever made. It's a cool truck and the best part is the top comes off!

I agree. Getting one to hold up is even harder. With my Genesis 1427mm, I have learned a lot and hope to bring some of that to this build. Each hull has it's own design quality and problems to deal with. How you deal with them is what I think makes for a great build.

As for your thoughts on the motors your right. ESC's are another Platform that will need to be looked at. Getting 35 hp out of a set of motors isn't going to be easy. I don't have deep pockets so this build will take time. So yes as a second build I'm asking a lot, and may not get there. But it will not be from trying. Should be a lot of fun though.

I know this my get some of you upset, buy I plan on changing the back of Mystic hull a bit. I like how the Genesis 1420 rudder mount is and will change it so that I can make a saddle for the rudder mount as well. Should make for a crazy build.
I plan on all cat builds that I do. It will be a trademark for me.

Hey guys I'm going to do this another way. I'm going to get all the parts first and let this go for awhile and let things cool off before I buy another hull. I don't want to end up with another defective hull like I did with my first one. So I'm done with this thread. I will start a build thread the next time you see me doing a new build in a few years should let people cool off a bit.

I love your latest SAW build. In my build I'm dealing with big power and doing it differently than most builders. So that the 4 small bolts aren't taking on a lot of stress and adds strength to the hull. It locks in the rudder.
Trying to think outside the box a bit.
