This is exactly what I have in my old Acadamy Sea Dagger. The boat is over 15 years old but this system seem so hold up. It uses twin 540 motors. I have run it on 4s lipo and will be switching to twin 550 motors in the near future. I dont know how efficient this system is but I ahave had no problems with it so far.Originally posted by avengersteve View PostI was wondering if anyone knew of a gear box that i could run 2 engines but only turn 1 shaft and if they work.. i dont want to set up for 2 bl motors if i will only see the power of 1.

Remember that speed is an exponential function of power. Double the power gives a fractional increase in speed. Say 20% in this case. Quadruple the power and you may only see 25 to 30% increase. 10 times the power may only double your speed.
This is conceptual only. Your results will vary.A nation of sheep breeds a government of wolves

Hughey Twin Gearbox
Steve here at Offshore may have them. If not try Ray Fuller. If push comes to shove, you may be able to get one direct from Ed Hughey (the gear-master) himself.
Here's a link to Ray's website, they are about half way down the page:

I have a gearbox in my small mono.
It is a kyosho and the ratio is 1.5:1 giving me 66% motor speed at the prop with plenty of torque.
I have a reedy 17t (30krpm) giving me 20krpm at the prop 42x1.4 Kyosho.
I like the gearbox in this boat as the acceleration is magnificent, I may even replicate it for my next project. The canard!
I have used a few gear drives and have my own opinions on them and thier applications.
Have fun.See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood
