Well I ordered an mhz mystic 138 non carbon version. I had a hard time justifying this purchase as I just built a 56" 12s catamaran two months ago but after my dad saw it run I now have solid reason to add another boat to the fleet lol. Anyway the hull should be here in the next few days. I am also using mbp clicking drives. So here we go

Here is my problem, not sure on motor choice. I have a ton of 6s packs laying around. I want her to run 90-100 mph as my genesis 1400 runs 90 and is very stable x465 props 12s 730kv motors. Many new motors have been released the last 6 months, would like to go HV.

Hey, nice choice on The boat. I'm really happy with mine!! As for the hardware you are considering I'm not too sure? The click drives sounds like a good option as they are good quality and many archive brilliant results with them. You might be pleased to know that the 138 is a relatively easy hull to push, and even "small motors" with 447 props could push my hull to 85mph. If you want to run a HV setup and you have a lot of 6s floating around, I would suggest a motor in the 850kv range on 12s? That should give you good performance and keep the amps down. If not a fan of high rpm, mid 700kv should also get you going. Maybe someone here that runs Leo's in the 800kv range on 12s can chime in? For sports runs I like my cut down props 457 re to 52mm. Always came back cool! Good luck with the project and keep us posted. If you need some help in the "graphic department" I'm here :-)

Thanks bud I will keep looking around to find a design I like. Your boat is very impressive and I'm sure light running 8s. Doc Wayne on here helped me a lot with setting up my genesis 1400mm I just want to build another boat. I'm not a fan of high rpm either.

--Received my KBB carbon fiber cloth today very impressed, this is some heavier stuff than I'm used to and is what you'd expect from Keith. Top notch. The hull comes in at 2.8-2.9 kg which is very light and it will be interesting seeing the final running weight. I have toyed around with the idea of running 14s1p scorpion 630kv outrunners 4035s, she would be very light! I won't run this setup but I'm sure it would be great.

To be honest I was kind of let down when I opened my package from MHZ. Not that theres anything wrong with the hull but the quality doesn't drastically exceed the "cheap stuff."

I was building the first MHZ Mystic for a friend a few months ago (it was the bigger Mystic 1850) and I can share your opinion. The hull was basically really fine, pretty nice layout and good surface quality (beside maybe 30-40 smaller pinholes in the GelCoat). Only thing annoying on the hull itself was, the inner surface turned completely white after water contact. Seems to be a known issue for several years now but seems as they dont mind. Had to sand it completely from inside and cover it with epoxy. Not much fun when its already fully built and with a $1600 paint job outside. But mostly I was disappointed with their hardware, not even close to the level I'd expect from a top-brand like MHZ. Have seen better quality for 1/3 the price from China. Maybe I did just have bad luck

Anyway pretty excited about new pictures of the build!

BTW: Yes, my HPR 135 was pretty stiff, I do sometimes also take a look at the "surfing pic" as well.

Got to do some more work on the boat this past weekend. The motors are in place I decided to polish my cooling jackets and really like the way they look. In these pictures you can see the MHZ oiler/bearing unit. The whole bottom of the hull was given the carbon kevlar treatment.

This thread has been inactive for some time. Here she is with the new mbp click drives, and a picture of the mhz rudder. Boat has a carbon inlay and will be going to the body shop for paint soon.

I should also mention the lipo tray system is for the hpr 135 and it fits perfectly.

Hey that's a hot a## hpr who's is it Mike I cant wait to see your boat run again she should do great with the new makeover we gave her. Nice lipo trays dont tell manuel Lol jk he knows everything that goes on he probably had nightmares the night we were gluing them.in there, but I am glad they worked out for your boat. manuels trays are awesome lol. Chris you have no idea how much I learned from you building this boat like setting up the drives and stuff. We finished the boat up 10 hours before I had to have neck surgery. The recovery is lengthy and with me not being able to work on boats for awhile chris realized this and for 2 or 3 days in a row he helped me until 2:30 in the morning working on this boat it was really an around the clock effort. Heres the list of things finished in 2 1/2 days.

Rudder installed
Rudder hydraulics installed + functional
flex shafts cut/installed + baked with retaining glue
Full inlay cut and installed all the way to the tip of the sponsons, 70% of the deck as well
Stuffing tubes cut, bent and installed
Lipo trays glued into place
Existing motor mounts cut, sanded on the inside, and an additional mhz motor mount sandwiched onto it then glued back in this took 3 hours, then holes drilled out using a 9 dollar dremel from harbor freight it was the only one small enough to get in there to trace and follow the existing holes lol, took like 10 minutes to drill out each hole i could stop the dremel from spinning with my fingers I bet

Electronics setup and series connectors created
CF hatch inlay cut out and created

--Ya I think we're crazy for doing everything so quickly but I had the surgery hanging over me and building this thing was an awesome way to take my mind off of things. Boat was tested in my tub for leaks, unfortunately we ran out of day light and didn't get to run it. I have to say FE boating has got to be one of the greatest hobbies out there and has such a great community. The boat is important but I'll take a new friendship any day over this thing.

In a week and a half this boat will see its real maiden on x457s speed should be low 80s in the future tp5850 920kv motors may be added for 12s to run at 100mph.
