Mystic 29 rebuild

Ok going to start a thread and show how I am going to rebuild this boat. Here is what I have done so far
All hardware is stripped off.
The wood with the blind nuts to attach the strut and rudder has been replaced with a piece of 1/8th aluminum glued in with Devcon epoxy. going to either tap into the alum backing plate or thru bolt the fasteners.
Going to fill several holes that are not needed.
Going to strip the paint if I can find something that will work on this paint. So far 0 for 2 on the strippers.
New stuffing tube will be installed also.
Going to race in the spec class and use a UL-1 motor or maybe try a proboat 1800 kv I have both.
graphics are going to be an Air Force Thunderbird theme

I just finished my Mystic rebuild last weekend.
Hull and hardware are stock. I am using a UL-1 motor, a T120 and a M445 as a baseline.
It's ready to go but the work thing is getting in the way on running it.

well finally made some progress this weekend.
Layed glass in the sponson's to strengthen
all wood is now sealed.
Sponson's are getting blueprinted
two hiles are now plugged with glass and epoxy to fill the hole
Also got the stand built next sand it and stain and put poly on it.

Added .125 aluminum backing plate to replace bad wood in transom

Added two layers of glass in sponsons to stiffen up where batteries go


Added Glass on the inside of the canopy to stiffen it.

Ummmm... Hey... I need a stand (or two) like that! :) Did you make patterns??

No I didn't but I still need to tweak it and after I do that I can make a set of templates for you. I usually go into a build like this with a general concept and some rough dimensions and chance things up as I go.

All sanding done on the hull and the stand has meen stained and two coats of poly on it

Nice work Jim I should have some dimensions on the decals we talked about soon.
I need to get those props done for you also!!
